The SX R/T has a 150hp engine so it's a competitor for straight line performance.

However, like Florida 76 said, I like the Cobalt's styling better.

The LS with the Getrag:

1st - 3.58
2nd - 2.02
3rd - 1.35
4th - 0.98
5th - 0.69
R - 3.32

Final drive ratio - 3.58:1

The R/T was discontinued last year. All 2005's will have the 132 hp motor.

To the original thread, both cars are dog ass slow.

'pretty quick' is a relative phrase. A Geo Metro owner might think his car is pretty quick b/c he got his 1/4 time down to 17 secs while the Camaro owner might think his 12 sec car is 'pretty quick'.

I wouldn't call the LS dog ass slow and I'd have to agree with Xonic that it is a relative phrase. I feel my LS is more than fast enough for what I need it for...to get around and still have fun with it when I feel the need . I didn't go with the SS one because the insurance was going to kill me, and two I don't intend to participate in street racing nor will I be going to the track to compete in races so I didn't feel I had any need for the supercharger or extra horsepower (plus I don't think I could bring myself to drive the car in the winter ).

As for what cars to compare with, there's a few more out there you could look at, especially above the base Civic (SI or SIR for example), and besides, just enjoy driving the car and don't worry who you can and can't beat and which is better than the other. If you really want to find out, taunt an SX driver the next time you see one at the light, or find someone who owns one and see if they want to go to the track .

Finally, my friend has a 2004 (I believe) SX2.0 and he didn't stand a hope in hell against my LS once I hit third gear and through fourth. By the time I was hitting 5th I guarantee that he had no hope of catching me, but it also depends on the driver particularly when dealing with manual transmissions and we're both relatively new (only been driving stick for 2 months or so) so I'm sure it'd be a little closer with two experienced drivers.

Well I guess it is relative and I would call both dog ass slow. Simple commuter cars. As stated before, I also have a regular Neon. It's slow, feels peppy, but it's not.

Remember, cars dont drive themselves

Last weekend I was driving home from dropping off my ex and I kicked the **** out of BMW-Z4 in my bare bones Cobalt, he was scared to drive fast in the rain i guess while im all sliding around corners and letting off throttle on bumps and getting right back on it etc etc. The highest speed I got up to might have been only 150-160kph, this was about a 15 k run and I beat him by at least a couple hundred metres. Drag racing, ye if ye got power youll win or good at shifting and little power differance. Actually racing around is more about the driver. now of course if you both are very good then the car can win it. Id worry more about your driving than your HP though.
