Cobalt Sport ????
I just have to point this out... for my own frustrated well being. and because of that stupid woman...
I think that most people have a problem with the SS badge because of its history and heritage. The others have a problem with more modern issue of, those who know how to identify the real deal from a decal-ed car, and the owners of a decal-ed car getting so pissed off when someone calls them on it. Then they try and explain away by spending $x dollars how its almost or better than the real deal.
So I say this, It’s your car do what you want, but don’t get pissy when someone calls you out on the fact it isn’t what you want it to be.
Also in retort to the Hertiage Loyaists, would it have made a bit of difference if these were called Cobalt IROC-SC’s and Cobalt IROC-Z24’s?
Look at dodge, Caliber R/T, Avenger R/T, 92 Spirit R/T do those have anything in common with the days of old and the Big Block power, other than the intent of sportiness?
Now the SRT name has become the big name dedicated to the Big Power cars.
GM has; Redline, SS, -V, and GS,
The (some of) Dead ones, RS, WS-6, ZL-1, GTX (now a cobalt appearance package), IROC, Z-24/Z-34,
Sorry everyone just venting, but the fact of the matter is, and I’ve seen so many before..
Post starts out..”Look at my awesome (insert car here) Type R” Well no it isn’t, cause of this this and this…. Well you don’t know **** and go blah blah blah…. I’m butt hurt…
Well anyway hopefully some of you laughed at this.
<end rant>

How fast was a '69 Camaro 327 RS single barrel, drum brakes all around, with a 2 speed powerglide, convertiable? And i know this cause I walk by this car every day in the showroom. It aint fast and the dealership owner uses it for nothing but parades. Yes it could be modified to be a 427 SS, but its 100% origional and thats the way the owner wants to keep it.
SO.... as the story goes.
R/T = Road & Track
Chrysler writes that:
Compared with Dodge's R/T credo of "contemporary interpretations of performance," SRT will come to stand for "ultimate interpretations of performance."
PVO performance models engineered for the Dodge brand will carry the SRT badge. Chrysler and Jeep performance lines will be announced in the future.
The Dodge SRT performance signature includes high-output engine performance, sport suspensions, fully functional aerodynamic packages, higher performance wheel and tire packages, sporty interiors and performance-oriented exhausts and brake systems.
especially the "i'm butt hurt" part

Why not? GM has a long history of offering different engine options in the SS cars. For example, the Chevelle SS had two different engine options in 1967, 1969, 1970 and 1973, and three different engines in 1965, 1966, 1968, 1971 and 1972; while the Nova SS had three different engines in 1969, four different engines in 1966, and a whopping FIVE different engines in 1967.
while they did have different engine options like u said, it would seem more reasonable to have only one SS and that would be the fast one.
although i dont mind mine being an ss :P

Actualy the 1970 Chevelle had 6 different option levels to go with the 3 differing engine's.
So basicly GM had 6 different SS Chevelle's in 1970. No one claims the 350 hp versions are any less an SS then the 450 hp versions do they? The real problem here isn't what GM labels things its the very limited knowledge of people that cause the problems.
As for IROC they also had IROC Dodge Daytona's too. IROC isn't so much a GM name as it stands for Internation Race Of Champions.
