The Camaro is more of a straight line vehicle... so the Ring is kinda unnatural for it.

True story. For the Camaro to be keeping up with any sport compact is very impressive.

The 2010 Camaro has an independent rear suspension and its handling was tuned on the 'ring. So I think it's a fairly natural fit.

That and the Ring is a LONG FAST track.

The Camaro is a perfect fit for it.

Some Pedders suspension on it...and :spooge:

has IRS and numerous test mules were seen testing out there, so id say its very natural, plus given the speeds that can be reached on that track, there is plenty of room to wind that motor up. says alot for the tc tho. and like someone said, i bet a tuned or GM staged (if it ever comes out) tc would be that much more impressive. good deal.

260hp vs 420hp is undoubtedly a monster handicap at the ring.

I've given up on interpreting nurburgring times. Its so subjective. It all depends on the driver, the wind and weather, if the car has been run a few times before the start of the clock or not. The Nissan GT-R debates were HUGE for a while, but I have to side with Porsche since I know they wouldn't be gimping the car before going out there. If its suppose to run with a 911 turbo, then lets see if it really can run with a 911 turbo(and it didn't, btw). Any car with a little bit of tweaking make a huge difference on that track. Its like 9 miles long or something, right?

Reason for the times might be drivers since I know the ss/tc time was done with a racing driver(as was the CTS-V's time). The Camaro SS was likely an engineer. The first Z06 driver around that track was pretty sloppy, too. I think I have that one pic of it going airborn around somewhere. It looked cool..but if your tires aren't on the ground, thats pretty bad for control.

Ring is 12.9 miles (RIGHT under 13 as I remember) God I'd love to see what times my car could pull there with Heinrich

The Balt and the CTSv were both piloted by John Heinricy, a GM Engineer, who is also a multinational championship winning race driver.

A racing engineer. Wasn't underestimating, just didn't know the dude's background. I remember the vid where he was driving the ss/tc around the ring for all its worth while talking about the car(too be honest I didn't know if that was him or not). Kinda awesome he drove two cars and made two records though(fastest production FWD car and fastest production sedan, right?)

As for the sloppy engineer, I was just meaning that for the one that made the first C6 Z06's lap. I don't think the ZR1 ever went airborn like that Z06 did. lol

And my opinion still stands on the Camaro SS time being irrelevant unless it was being driven by a pro like Mr. Heinricy.

im pretty sure the ZR1 went airborne too.I would imagine any car with enough power to get to speed fast engough goes airborn at that point in the ring. If they dont, then they arent going fast enough
