Cobalt ss s/c vs 06 6.0 GTO vs 97 Supra

I have the decision between getting a Cobalt ss s/c with 7000 left for mods or whatever. Or a 06 pontiac GTO 6.0 with no extra money untill further paychecks or a 1997 toyota Supra with targa top and about 2000 grand left to spend on whatever. Just looking to see what everyone thinks.

personally, i would get the GTO if i could afford it. how is insurance gonna be? I wouldn't buy the supra that someone else messed with, plus it is 9 yrs old already

Call the insurance. Buy the cheapest if your funds are limited. That Supra sure sounds nice but if i had the money i would get a GTO.

Being that I have both parked in the driveway..if I had to pick....GTO all the way....the power difference between teh two are just two different worlds...you get respect from both domestic drivers as well as import drivers and it's like riding down the road in a cruise ship (because it's comfortable)

Is there a choice? GTO all the way. It is insanely fast out of the box and has a great interior.

If you can find a bigger blower for the SS S/C then I'd definately invest the extra money into modding it instead of buying the GTO or supra. Otherwise....GTO

7000 K in mods would make for one mean cobalt! If you like modding your vehicle the Cobalt all the way! Be one of the first to stick that kind of money into a Cobalt!

Going on the assumption you have ~30k to send on a car, how can a 1997 Supra cost 28K with 2k left over? I mean thats rediculous for a 9 years old car.

Not only is 28k High for a 9 year old car, but you should also take into account that whoever had it before you, probably beat the $hit out of it.
Its a 9 year old sports car. I would have to question the long term durability of it.

The GTO is a BEAUTIFUL thing, but remember both insurance and gas.

Thats why I say go for the SS/SC. Lots of fun, Economical, warranty, Etc...

I like the Supra. Plus they are VERY hard to find in good condition (which i assume it is or you wouldnt even concisder it) They can be modded out to be MONSTERS! And will make the GTOs, SS/SCs, EVOs, STIs look like they are go carts.

get the Goat. the back seats are reason enough to buy it. the 400hp doesnt hurt either. get it in black too.

I notice everyone mentioning gas as a big decision factor in the GTO....well I'll tell ya' that while cruising in 6th gear the goat is getting about 28 mpg....that's worse than my cobalt (not broken in and i beat the living **** outta her)

Wha WAS I thinking..... The new GTO has the LS2 engine in it. That means it should get comprible (SP?) milage to the Cobalt. Go for the Goat!

wow, you must not know a thing about the LS2. LSx motors can be EXTREMELY powerful motors, not just dyno queens, but also torque monsters and can run cars to ET's that many supra guys would cream over.

it's more fun to build stuff on your own...plus that guy didn't put 900 hp in a car to "baby" it.....that car probably had the ever living **** beat outta it

Yea i see your point. I just dont know which one I want to spend the money on. I am planning to spend alot in mods but I do already have a full race car and dont know if i need another v8. I would love to have either but not sure which one to put the money into.

I test drove a stickshift 6.0 GTO....that bitch was baad!!!!!!!!!!

Very comfortable ride; however they don't handle as good as I thought they could......

Power wise its NO comparison to the ss/sc....it has TWICE the HP dude!!!!!

7k to spend in mods would make an awsome cobalt. Just think, with only the stage 1+2 kits (should) put us in the mid 13's. A GTO runs low 13's outa the box (average). If you had an additional 6-5k to spend on mods after the stage upgrades, your SS would be insane. And if youre sick of v8's, try the 4 cylnder route as a change. Id say the cobalt hands down.

you also have to take into consideration that putting $7000 worth of aftermarket mods will void the warranty....so you'll have a 13 second car with NO warranty......or you can have a 13 second GTO with a warranty......it's all choice but this **** ain't cheap to fix today....(oh this is considering if you were to use aftermarket parts)

Not nesseccarily true. You have to make sure that whatever youre putting in the vehicle wont void the warranty. Not all mods void the warranty. If your twin turboing the thing then Id say yea it would probly void the waranty. However, a CAI, slicks, LSD, Exaust and other various upgrades shouldnt. You have to contact your dealer first and make sure whatever you wanna do to the car doesnt void it. We have someone on thats running 14.1 with just a CAI and a different shifter. Not a bad .5 decrease from the 1/4mi. And lets hope 7k worth of mods would put us better than 13 secs. Id say atleast the low 12- low 11 sec range
