You have to contact your dealer first and make sure whatever you wanna do to the car doesnt void it. We have someone on
thats running 14.1 with just a CAI and a different shifter. Not a bad .5 decrease from the 1/4mi.

yea the stage kits. Pretty sure gm estimated our cars at 13.8 roughly after the fully waranted stage kits. As we all know, gm likes to under rate everything. Now this is just an estimate, but Im gonna say that we should run anywhere between 13.7-13.5 1/4mi after the stage kits (actual). Now if you combine that with a CAI, slicks, and LSD well probly be entering the 12's easy by then
You should do it if ya have the $$ to throw around!

oh yea? .....i haven't heard anything about a turbo but that would be pretty interesting...it sucks that they don't make much for the 2.4....then again they don't make much for the LS2 yet either...tons of crap for the LS1
i would say go with the gto. theres some stuff out for it when you get the money and its rwd. the supra would be nice but its 9 yrs old and its a supra... they def beat the hell out of it.
edit: and that one with the s/c is most def a bad ass car

In reality though who is going to put 7K into a Coablt SS?
I was looking into buying a 2005 GTO, my insurance would've went up $25 every 6 months which is no big deal.
But I couldn't get over the price tag of $30,000 and thats the Red Tag Sale too. I found a used 2005 with 3,300 but there was a couple scratches I didn't like.
As for GTO performance vs Cobalt SS performance:
0-60 and from a dig = GTO
From a roll = GTO But the stage kits will help with this.
Handling = SS/SC
Braking = SS/SC
Fuel economy (to some it matters) = SS/SC
Looks = ?
Price = SS/SC

All tough choices. You really have to think what you are actually looking for? Top end in the Supra, quickness in the Cobalt or the raw power of the GTO. You will be looking at alot of money on modding the GTO and on the car itself so you have to think about that. Supra is a lovely car but, it is discontinued and rare so when its comes to finding parts you need will be tough or expensive. Which leaves the Cobalt that in fact is the best bang for your buck. There is not much parts out there but there eventually will be. I say go for the Cobalt in your position if you really like the car. You'll also have 7k left over to do whatever you want.
just wait until the aftermarket picks up for the LS2. Heads and a bumpstick and you'll be pushing 500rwhp and be running low 12's all day. and while you're saving up some cash and waiting for the aftermarket to pick up, enjoy you're warranty on the goat. as far as fuel mileage, with 6th gear and displacement on demand, i wouldn't be too worried about it. get the goat.
o yeah and if you want a supra just save for a few more years then you can get the new ones they plan releasing with a v10 or v12 over 600hp (if im not mistaken) but it will cost you a pretty penny at $100,000

Given the choice between those 3 cars, I would definitely take the GTO (provided I could afford the insurance payment
) I wouldn't even consider the Supra, thats a ton of money for a high mileage 9 year old vehicle that has prebably been beaten on most of its life and will no doubt have problems.
Theres just something about a V8 paired with RWD and a 6-speed thats just plain awesome. Its like the ultimate combo - you get RWD traction, great low end torque, insane top end power, and 6 speeds so you can always be in the right gear, whether you're drag racing or just cruising down the highway.
My second choice would of course be the SS S/C, especially with 7K dropped into it. That thing would be a beast, figuring a GM Stage 3 kit, intake, header, and full exhaust, you'd be pushing about 300HP, which is a lot in a 2990lb car. Of course the advantages are better fuel economy, less expensive insurance, and better foul weather driving capability than the Goat.

I was debating the SS S/C or the GTO myself. Insurance was a $30 difference every 6 months (20 yr old single male, clean record). I test drove both and loved them. In the end I went with the SS S/C because of the price of the car, but if I was given the choice again I would change only the one thing...G85 on the SS S/C. The GTO has literally half the trunk space of the Cobalt, gas milage around town (95% or more of my driving) is much better on the SS S/C ( computer says around 24mpg), and 5 seats vs. 4. From the articles I have read, the GTO starts to reveal it's weight when pushing the handling limits, where the SS S/C is more consistant. Both have problems with wheel hop. The GTO has the nicer interior, in my opinion.
If you are looking for a economical, fun, quick, good handling car, go with the SS S/C. If you are looking for lots of power with a little more luxory and little less practicality, go with the GTO. The GTO will most likely have more support in the long run, LS2 is in a few of GM's Performers (Trailblazer SS, SSR, Corvette, GTO, Monaro). I don't think the tuner market is going to be as receptive to the LSJ and the Cobalt as the LS2 and the GTO unfortunatly.

Did everyone miss this??? 900WHP!!!!!! The GTO is nice, but not that cool. the SS/SC is cool but not that cool either (and yes i have a SS/SC) GTOs SS/SCs are going to be a dime a dozen but a Supra in good condition with 900WHP is a GREAT find. Dont be dumb and get something that everyone has. Its going to be a LONG time before the SS/SC will touch that and the GTO, honestly I hated mine. Its like a Grand Am + woohoo.
Supras Suck, IMO if you can get a GTO Forget a cobalt Im sorry, it seems as Im bashing balts today. I love my cobalt but 2 things i know... I would take gto over balt anyday. DSM will own a cobalt
dude
that supra might run 14's supras are dyno queens they put down so much hp, but they cant keep traction worth crap on the streets. I beat a 1400 hp supra for the simple fact he spun tires for about 5 seconds

I've seen a approx 700hp Supra run a 10.5 or 10.6 1/4 mile, with DOT street radials. Ask Bulldog71ss, he was there. Matter of fact there were 2 of them. I know the brother-in-law of the one, and he is buddies with the other.

ok let me re-phrase for the not so intelligent.....is it really hard to go to a dealership and test drice a s/c?....yea i didn't think so....i test drove both the 2.4 and the s/c so yea i know the power difference between the two and it's two different worlds are you really trying to argue against that?....try again....everyone comes in here with their INTELLIGENT opinions and here we have a waste of sperm...your mother should have swallowed you, but i'm sure they must be so proud
