glad you and your woman are ok....from being abody tech i dont see it being totaled unless you have high mileage..... obviously the whole sides getting painted, new quarter, door, rocker, bumper etc etc.... close to 7-8k in damage id assume.

the entire drivers side rear quarter panel was dented in. so was most of the door. the skirt was also damaged. the wheel was just scratched but the car needed an alignment.

ill put it to you like this....a door, fender or any panel that just bolts up to the car will never be part of a structural total. thinkings like the roof buckling, frame mash, frame banana, frame sway, etc etc or just way to much damage to actually deam the car worth fixable is what will total it.

personally i think even with your damage and prior repair it will be ok. i have fixed this guys acura 2010 acura tl sh-awd model every 7 weeks since hes owned it(which is so far 3 times) with 15-25k hits and they have yet to total it. ive put so far 6 fenders on, 4 doors, 2 door skins, 3 hoods, 3 front bumpers, 3 rocker panels, 3 power steering racks, an entire front core support(twice), windshield, repair the roof, repair and paint both quarter panels and b pillars..... etc etc....the list goes on... realistically the whole car has been painted almost twice due to all the damage and color blends that we ahve had to do and its still not totaled...dealers taking it on trade

the rear quarter panel doesn't bolt though? have to cut and weld it in i thought?

Quarters, rockers, roof, a and c pillars, frame rails, core support, strut towers, trunk floor, and rear body panels are your major structural cut and weld components. Usually a quarter wont total a car as its mostly the outer skin that gets damaged

yea.
well if it is fixable and not totalled im just gonna have the axle fixed.
the damage is gonna stay that way. i'll put that money towards paying off the car and selling the car for like 7 or something to someone who can fix it. just depends on how much i get, how much axle costs and how much i still owe on the car. currently i'm at 18-19k i believe.

i owe 18k-19k on the car. it has 27k miles on it.
i estimate the damage to be about 8-9k. if its not totalled that is.
i'm looking to get out of paying for this car. so i'll sell the car for about 8k as is. im not sure if thats a set price, just depends on what happens and how much i get. if i fix the axle though i'll be able to drive it. although the rear will look like ****.
whoever buys it can fix it....anyone that does body work or knows someone who could do it for cheap would surely consider this a steal as the car is still in perfect working condition. i was thinking about just parting it out but it takes too much work for something that wouldn't even gain as much money as just selling as-is.

man you got some bad luck. I've had something similar happen to me. on my way home on a late raining night in oct. was living in South side of chicago (shitty area). Waiting at a stop light when i hear someone crash into a car behind me. I look into my rear view mirror and watched this lady get Sandwiched between my cobalt and a Durango. I get out to check to see if their ok. The lady was complaining about her neck and the guy didn't realize what he did. So i start to call the cops and they both are like no no were ok.
I'm pissed cause these fools hit my new car (6 months old to me) and it's already gonna need a **** ton of work. the guy tried to flee the scene, so i ran infront of his car until some undercover cops saw a white boy in the middle of the street screaming at a mexican in the durango.
Both had no insurance or License. I had a 1k Deductible on my insurance at the time cause it was so high in price for a 500$ deductible. I never had gotten into a accident before that day. WHEN IT RAINS IT POURS! The guy fled without his ID CARD the cops held and the lady went to jail for suspended license

jjjeeez ^

yea sorry to hear that. people suck. thats why uninsured motorist is a good coverage to have.
i happened to have it by luck and a good insurance seller that i've known since i was a little kid.
i had my car for less than a year before the first accident happened.
theres been some issues getting it from the tow yard to the repair shop.
i'm not sure why, but i hope it gets there today. meeting with the adjuster tomorrow for my statement.

Did your insurance let you know if it was totaled or not?
