Cobalt's long trip durability?

I'm going to be taking a vacation here in June, heading from Illinois down to South Carolina. Debating the pro's and con's of taking the SS. It's going to have around 95k on it by then and the trip is a little over 900 miles each way. Anybody made the long trips in these things before? I'm not THAT worried, but with four people and luggage, I don't want the thing blowing up on me. Obviously, a general tune up will be in order prior to the leaving, but anything in particular I should check up on prior to leaving? Also, anybody think it'd be stupid for me to take it on a trip that long?

Drove my LNF from Michigan to Florida and back twice. Not a single problem. Oil change just before I left and as soon as I got back.

Exactly what I wanted to hear! I don't know if i'm taking it or not. It's 8 of us driving down there and I have no clue if anyone is going to be willing to ride bitch for 15 hours. I'd like to detour and take the Tail of the Dragon though and getting some good shots of the Balt by the ocean would be fantastic. My buddy might take his WRX as the other car, so we'd be rollin' pretty. Logic would dictate that we'll end up in my girlfriends Intrepid and my other buddies Grand Prix though.

I have done many 10+ hour trips. One was about 22 hours straight. No issues to speak of. Just keep in mind it is not the best ride and wears down on you after a while.

I've taken many trips between Cincinnati and Austin TX, Florida, and everywhere else. Change the oil, clean the air filter, and charge the Ipod...You'll be GTG.

I drove from north dakota to orlando florida without stopping other than gas and food and not one problem. I also drove to LA from ND without stopping so I'd say it's durable for long trips.

Yup X2, you shouldn't have any issues! Just plan a head and make sure you will make it on your current oil change.

I've driven mine to Michigan and back several times. As long as you bothered to take care of the car there is no reason why it cant make the trip. Its only 95k miles. Thats nothing on a modern car. You act like its got 200k+ miles on it or something.

Just make sure, as others have said, that your oil/fluids are changed and taken care of it. You're golden.

Sweet, I figured this would be the case. I totally agree with you on taking the fun cars part Shibito. I'm the one driving/riding shotgun the whole time though, haha.
