Convertible SS/SC?

Just curious on what all of everyone's thoughts are.. Do you think GM will ever make a convertible cobalt? I mean, they made it an option for the cavalier so why not the cobalt? I would buy one if they did.I don't know about you guys though.

sounds like a good idea, but it would probally be on the ls/lt models only. 200+hp and a soft top has to cost a lot for insurance; you flip and your screwed

It COULD happen but I'd vote for unlikely. GM has gotten away from Convertibles, at least for now. Softtops are somewhat a thing of the past. If you look GM offeres I think one soft top vehicle, the corvette, and even thats probly going bye bye soon. I think the sky/solstice might also be soft top too

Current GM Soft tops in the US
Corvette.
Sky.
Solstice.

Hard tops.
XLR.
G6.

They killed the drop top in the cavalier several years befor they killed the car do to high cost and safety ratings.

I dont think they will ever pop the top on the cobalt. The car would just cost to much to make.
An LT nicely loaded would be as much or more then an SS S/C.

I hope there wouldn't be a convertable. Man, would it be gross. Remember the old cavalier and sunfire convertables? GROSS

The Camaro will have a soft top vert if there is a good. (concept looks great.) Verts require more time and money in development in order to meet crash test standards. This would have raised the cost of every Cobalt. Not just the verts. That is the main reason there isnt one.

It's a shame that we cant have every model of car come in a vert form. Those days were awesome.(I mean, they even made a metro vert!) But the rise in safety standards killed this.

Personally; if there was a vert option for about $1500; I would have bought it depending on the looks of the car.
