Custom SRI problems...
Custom SRI problems...
Maybe someone can spot something wrong..I had a custom short ram intake made for me. Has the MAF adapter, Air injector inlet...about 2.75" in diameter throughout the pipe. I just put a breather filter over the SAI (this isnt the problem, it works fine with the stock airbox in and the breather filter on).
But here's the problem I had:
Start the engine, RPM's bounce from about 1600 to 900, engine sounds like its choking, car rattles, give it a little gas and it sounds like its about to die, so I shut it off. Checked all the connections, everything is tight, all good. Start the engine, same thing...
Take it all off, throw the stock airbox and **** back on, it works fine...
I don't get it. Has anyone else made a custom CAI/SRI? What parts did you use, and was there anything you may have done special?

I know this sounds dumb, but you may have installed the MAF flange in wrong, which will cause your MAF sensor to face the wrong way. I've done it once, and so has a friend. It made my car run like yours sounds to. Check to see if that's the problem.
omg you might be right.....
here's what happened...I installed it real quick, left everything semi-loose in case i had to tear it down. everything went ok, sounded fine upon startup. then i took the MAF inside and screwed it into the MAF sensor housing on the intake tube, and i think thats when the problem occured.
LOL..i didnt kno there was a right and wrong way to install this thing, but I do remember that it had to be plugged in upside down. I'll have to try and install this thing again when i get a chance later this week.
Thanks guys!!!!
