You're right. I thought about that. I didn't get the age. They implied a young age, but I never got the chance to directly ask before everything was resolved and I'm not going to stir the pot back up today.

There was no mention of traffic from them when I told them about the fuel economy. You think they'd mention it. I know the roads it was driven on as well. There shouldn't have been much. But your point stands. There are several reasons for a drop in economy. My suspicions came from the fact that it was the end of the tank where it's really hard to change your economy by several miles per gallon without really diving it hard. I gave it to them at 30.8MPG with a quarter tank left(i reset the EPA on every fill) and got it back at 25.9MPG. It was a 30 mile round trip. At the end of the tank, it gets difficult to drop the mileage by so much in a short time like that. We're talking 5mpg in 30 miles when the number doesn't move much.

But again, I agree with you. I have inconclusive evidence to press for agressive driving and get GM involved. I'm a reasonable person and now that I've cooled down, after my detailing on Saturday, I'm done with them.

i would still report it, you never know how many complaints they have already had. and if people keep on overlooking things like that, nothing will ever get fixed.

yea. a 5mpg drop is weird
i wonder if they let it idle outside a dealership for a while
idling is bad for MPG counts, cuz you arent moving at all
he coulda even reset it during his trip, you never know

thats why i dont think the mpg guage is that accurate

My dealerships policy is that the radio gets turned off. Nothing is adjusted, just off. So when you get back in your car all you do is turn it back on, no harm no foul and I don't mind letting them touch the one button if it stops them from blasting the crap out of my speakers and changing stations/cd's.

I had my alignmant fixed in my car and had the same problem the gas milage went down, but upon asking why this happened they explained the car was left on during the alingment and that the person doing my alignment would never abuse any car seeing he had been working at the dealership for over five years. In conclusion be careful who you service your car with, if possible watch the car while they do it. The dealership I go to doesn't seem to mind. But it's funny the dealership only gave you free oil change because I know if I test drove one of their new cars and the salesman let me abuse it to test it and something broke a month or two later I know I would be getting a bill in the mail. You should also ask your dealer to see you last computer readouts, everything in the car is electrical all areas of the car are constantly being monitored thats how they know if you were abusing you car or noT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It wasn't reset. You can tell when the economy is reset. The average changes quickly and easily. When the average barely changes anymore even after soem WOT, you know it's been quite sometime before a reset.

As far as the idling thing. That's something I didn't think of. I'd have to have them call the body shop to find that out. Doesn't matter now. I'm done with this crap after tomorrow morning. I'm putting it all behind me and moving on with life. I've got better things to worry about than this.
