Dexcool question?
Dexcool question?
I know GM is being sewed over Dexcool because it eats through the gaskets in the engine and intake, ex. 3.1L, 3.4L intake manafold gaskets on grand am's, montie carlos, ventures, rendivious, ect.... does anybody know if they changed how the dexcool is made so it is safe, if not has anybody had any problems with there cobalt/ion with the dexcool? i am thinking about flushing out my engine and intercooler and putting reagular green antifreeze in my car. any comments would help, thank you very much!!!!
It's easier to change the gasket material than the coolant material. I'm pretty sure that GM just specced the wrong material for the gaskets on those engines and that's why it's having issues.
It's not the coolant causing the failures. It's the design and materials of the intake gasket. Look how many other GM engines are running dexcool with no issues. Hell my 94 grand am with the 3100 had the classic intake leak and it had the regular green coolant in it...
