my favorite part is they can't even spell cobalt right in the recall letter i got yesterday... colbalt smh

 

I have to admit I probably have more hanging from my keys than I should. 4 house keys, the fiance's extra honda key, the fob and a key sized carabiner to hook all this onto my belt loop. But it's still not that heavy. If anything the honda key adds more weight than anything, that sucker's heavy!

 

Wasn't that an issue in a car I fail to remember not too long ago? I seem to remember reading about cars shutting off due to hitting pot holes and bumps because of the car thinking it was in an accident and cutting off the fuel.

 

Ford's had inertia switches for the fuel pump. people used to punch Taurus left rear 1/4 panels in the mall parking lot and sit back and watch customers try to start them when they got done shopping and then call a tow truck.

 

I got the recall letter yesterday also. I also hate other people touching my car but I mean if it's this serious i might as well get it fixed.... Sooo if i have full coverage on the car, i should be able to turn it in and get a rental until its fixed right?

 

Im sure thats up to your insurance or the dealer.

Condition
Some customers may comment that the ignition key is difficult to remove or that the key sticks or binds in the ignition cylinder.

Correction
A new ignition lock cylinder has been released to correct this concern. Replace the ignition lock cylinder. Refer to Ignition Lock Cylinder Replacement in SI.

Yeh some are different then others, in that video im barely putting any pressure on it and it just snaps right back. I think the issue with the switch assembly is the amount of force required to turn the key off is below the minimum requirements, thus when it is jolted real hard during an accident, or if you already have weight on the ring and hit a pothole, it causes it to turn back. I've hit some really nasty potholes this year and never had an issue with the car turning off, but I imagine this problem only gets worse over time as the switch assembly wears out.

I bought it lowered on eibach, with vibrations coming from my zzp tranny mounts lmao.(change shakes)...I have hit potholes thinking i bent my rim they where so bad ...Me and Previous owner haven't had the key turn off once..Not saying it isn't possible

But the one thing i don't get is when my cavalier randomly went on solid theft light after a bump, First thing i did was turn the key lol in a panic ..Then realized i still had power and saw the theft light pulled it over and called a tow lol

And speaking of tumblers Gm needed a new designer years ago lol.. In my parents old Chevy Venture, I had to jiggle the key a certain way just to turn the key lol (Give the keys to a friend and say fire it up ill be out in a sec, Funniest **** ever lmao)

I don't know about the rest of you, But i loved driving my cavalier to my cottage, I could pull the key out of the ignition while it was running/driving and use the key as a packing tool for my burrito lol..(Yes the car would still be running with no key in the ignition lmao)

Not sure what qualifiers as a valid person yet lol since the actual reason for the recall is the ignition turning off during a car accident, I guess you have to find someone who has been in an accident where the airbags didn't deploy as a result of the key turning off. Cases where we are tugging on our keys or pulling on the key to simulate the issue im sure GM would just refute that as being unrelated.

 

That is ******* amazing.

 

He's looking for someone who had the ignition replaced before this recall was announced based off his first post. I think that's what he means by a valid person.
