Did you replace your ignition before this big recall?

what info is he going to get out of them anyways? I replaced an Ion ignition switch a few weeks ago because it was throwing theft codes, had nothing to do shutting off while driving.
One thing that concerns me more then anything, that i think people are overlooking, is the fact that the airbag system is not powered when the car is off. I find that a bit odd as we were always taught to disconnect the 12v power source (battery) when working on the airbags because they could still deploy despite the ignition being off.

EDIT: i guess it's only a minute, but still, they should still deploy if the switch is turned off.
right from the service manual:
"In the event that ignition positive voltage is lost during a collision, the SDM maintains a 23-volt loop reserve (23 VLR) for deployment of the air bags. It is important when disabling the SIR system for servicing or rescue operations to allow the 23 VLR to dissipate, which could take up to 1 minute."
I figured as much, in the event of a severe car accident where the engine was disabled or the power source was disconnected the SRS system should still be able to function normally.
The capacitors in the SDM are also supposed to keep power for up to 10 minutes for airbag deployment for this exact reason

did it even say in that article if her air bags deployed or not? all I read was no power steering or power brakes leading her to hydroplane.
When i looked at all the crash images, none of the airbags were deployed and if you read the recall paper I put up in the other thread, it says the reason for the recall is because of partial loss of electrical power may result in the air bags not deploying when involved in a crash. Raises alot of questions.
I only saw the one image of the car and couldn;t tell if they were deployed or not. I also know GM isn't including her in the 12 deaths so that made me wonder if maybe they did deploy.
Either way, this is going to be real bad news for GM.
I wonder if this is going to cause the values of our cars to go down because they are deemed unsafe now

more like "thousands of enthusiasts express their feelings about driving potential death traps that could at any moment cause a severe car crash for no apparent reason thanks to faulty ignition equipment"
