Different Oils on a dyno.
Different Oils on a dyno.
Here is some info I found from a shop thats close to me. I have met these guys and would believe the info is correct. They dynoed many different performance oils to see what the difference is. Here is the link to there forum.

that was a good write up!!! I liked reading how much people know just about oil... and I didnt hear them say... oil doesn't break down... its the detergent that cleans your engine that breaks down(oil additives)
+ rep already added for it on the other thread where it was posted
this was a great write up i just wish they showed what the red-line oil did

If you read some decent summations done after the testing, the residual oil left from the previous test could in fact make Royal Purple look better.
Nice test, nice attempt, but sill way to many variables are still on the table.
Ya but its still better then just guessing out the ass.
isn't that why they did runs in between that didn't affect the score, to get rid of the residual oil? and why didn't residual oil help out the other one's that much? if it helps one, it would be safe to assume that i t would help them all, no? so in that case, ALL of them would be higher than normal.
Not by much!!!
The tester points on a number of facts in his summation to say he knows his test is not accurate, but better than the ass dyno.
Another fact I know to be true , if you run a car on a dyno on and off again all day long without changing ANYTHING and even controlling the variables of intake temps, motor temps, things along that nature as the day progresses dyno numbers are always up, in fact rising each test.
You know why????
Tires begin to heat and conform to the drums. Better contact. better numbers???

he also said that they controlled some of the variables between tests, SPECIFICALLY temps.
But then again he goes and says there were different temps in effect and shows that in print.
Thats not controlling when a variable shows.
You look at a good engine dyno, its in a room where intake temp, humidity etc etc etc DO NOT WAVER from run to run. Thats controlled!!
