I'm very lazy, introverted and very tech savvy. I want to browse, add to cart, and not have to deal with a customer service rep at all. I'm sure Gloria is great, but ease of use is big for me.

If you want the best part you will go thru emails or whatever it takes. If you back out of a powell part then what can i say you really didnt want it in the first place. But i agree having a proper website will help with sales. But to me i dont really care sending an email to gloria since she replies pretty fast

i get where your coming from but on his end theres some advantages to not doing all that. without the website he has complete control of his orders and what comes in or what gets pushed back. With a website you can get 5 orders for a part that you only have one of and takes forever to make overnight. Then you have to worry about trying to rush to get them out on time or e-mailing the people and letting them know theres a delay or whatever. if he goes on vacation or has some down time or whatever he can stop all incoming orders until he gets back by just an e-mail reply saying will reply back on such and such date.

just think of all the large businesses you frequent and tell me what they do that is the best? then think of some of the smaller businesses you frequent and what they do the best? sometimes a boost in sales isnt worth the decrease in control, more overhead, possible loss in quality. If he doesnt need a boost in sales then why break something thats working very well?

^^ Very well said.
Bear in mind that Powell is all about personal attention and service. They will not jeopardize their reputation just to make a few more sales through an online web site. Their products speak for themselves and serious interested buyers that know this will come anyway. And their after sales service and warranty is second to none. Try comparing that to some of the bigger outfits

websites and buying cost money, maintenance and upkeep. This isn't walmart, this is a custom, small shop doing specific low volume parts. There is no need. My pinball hobby is the same, there are some big business online, but the old school guys are mail order only.

Honestly, if we could get just that Id be satisfied. If I could get a description with pics and whatever else, at least a complete listing of all the products the man offers, that would be a huge leap forward.

this thread is great, but without going through all the pages, can anyone give me a recap on everything he offers for us?

I'm putting in another order right now, and think I can recall everything he offers for us...
But Murphy's law states that if I don't ask this now, I find something else I would like after paying for this pending order...

Yup, and if you're interested in more complex suspension parts you'll need to email Gloria and John anyways

Not sure, I usually pay in person, humble brag for being within driving distance of John. I did order my separator through Gloria and paid by EMT or Interac e-transfer, which since you're in SK you can do as well.
