DIY Transmission Mounts A Success!

I filled the hollow areas in the two trans mounts with an epoxy used for fiberglass patching. And wow...wheel hop?? GONE!! It took a total of 3 hours due to fact that the epoxy had to cure. But all in all I only spent $75, and still have my stock mounts. The vibes are kinda crazy when I let out the clutch...but the benefits are so worth it! The car feels totally different, and I love it!!

I have a DIY mount also. The vibes calm down after a while. The shifting felt much better after the install.

Shifting is great. No wheel hop is great.

Once you're in 2nd you hardly even notice the vibes...its just in 1st when you're letting out the clutch that the vibes are intense...

Fiberglass epoxy?

Check on that in a month or two, I'd be curious to see if its still in one piece.

Kinda hard material though. And you could have got a set of TTR mounts for about that price. Well, at least I did.

Yeah, I didn't consider that. I think I paid $50 for mine with shipping.

It's an Epoxy instead of a Poly. Harder, not as much give, lots more fragile.

You could of used Polyurethane caulk and got the same effect but this will hold up.
Fiberglass epoxy will most likely not.

I'm hoping it will hold up...but if it doesnt thats fine. The cracked pieces will probably just fall out leaving the stock rubber. I'll be checking on it once a week just to make sure...I wanted to try something different. I still have my stock mounts I can put back on...

Agreed Epoxy is hard/brittle, and most likely will crack out...
