Do you agree the cobalt is underated?

Hey there everyone, I have a 2006 ss and i feel that the cobalt is overlooked as a solid street racing car. I have smashed several of my friends on different occassions. I have beat countless civics and lancers and neons and even an srt-4 for good measure. I just wish the cobalt would get some respect, becaue everyone I talk to thinks its a weak ass car. I think everyone without a cobalt should give it some well-deserved respect!

The Cobalt is the underdog and I like the fact that no one truely knows what our cars are capable of. Hell, we don't even know the full potential as of yet. The beariers are still being broken and the envelope pushed. I love the fact that I can drive down the road an have some goof ball in a Crustang or honda look at me funny and laugh, cause when I line up with em and drive away, the look that's left on their face is PRICELESS...lol

Man I love you people! I don't really race either, but when I see an agressive looking import I like to step up and put it to them if you know what I mean! I like to see what my balt is made of.

The SS/SC is probably the best kept performance secret on the market today. All the magazines rate the car like crap, prices are dirt cheap, and you get no respect on the streets. But all you gotta do is put the pedal down and whomever is in the other lane is gonna realise that this thing ain't just another rice car with a big wing.

The word is getting out though thanks to the guys posting vids of cobalts walking all over ls1 GTO's and other respected cars. Just in my area alone I couldn't get a honda to run with me to save my life anymore. I got the lo pro wing and will debadge in the spring in an effort to get more races.

Yes it is definalty getting harder to find a good race in my area. There are not many cobalts around but the few that are have made our presence known!

You hit the nail right on the proverbial head. It is great that most people don't have a clue. But when you leave them in the dust........what an absolutely great feeling!!! I had an SRT-4 two weeks ago in front of me on a major highway. I followed him in the hammer lane with a very respectable distance doing about 70mph. He would never move to the right lane when there was no traffic and I usually do 74 -76. So after 20 minutes I deceided to pass him on the right. Well wouldn't you know he didn't like that very much and didn't give me the same respect. He tried pasing me on the right by backing off and then getting a run. I just dropped it into 4th and he never could catch up to me (pretty even match). Just before he got off at his exit and traffic was moving slow he quicly passed me to the right (I was not concerned) got in front of me, revved the engine so I could hear the turbo and then got into the right lane to exit. I just waved at them when I went by. In this case I believe they found out that the ss/sc isn't a pushover.

yeah well around here when i first got my cobalt ss s/c no one had it except one guy, he also had a red ss s/c and well now theres a bunch but at that time me and alex pretty much got told the cars are slow and all, well once we broke them in me and alex both proived this area wrong and we started to race cars like evos stis 350z's and a bunch of other cars and people noticed that we were actually keeping up and beating some of these cars and now they all has respect for the cars, and then they heard about gm stage 2 and otehr stage ktis and now they are even more scared of us, and im officialy the fastest and nicest ride in my high school as eveyone would say, the only competitor i have is my friends trailblazer ss but me and him are friends so we dont compete with each other we ride together, but now rumor goes around school i am getting stage 4 lol but yeah cobalts are really under rated

Yeah it's underrated I suppose and that's a good thing. I means less teenagers with crappy cars trying to race us. Hell even one of the techs at my dealership was ragging on me. He's a total ******* though and I put him and his late 90s Camaro RS (yeah V6 power 4 life) with exhaust in it's place.

Street racing is dumb by the way.

underrated and I don't care if I get no respect!! A short little run against anybody and they look the car over and over again.... what is that thing? I am badgeless and wingless, I feel I have one of the ultimate sleepers out on the road.... whatever you got, bring it on!!
I may not win all the time.... but, you are not going to run away from me!!!

I would say its underrated cause you have guys in Sentra forums thinkin they can keep up after they dump 2K in their SE-R and happen to beat what is known an NON SUPERCHARGED cobalt. So they think they own cobalts all time cause they beat one thats not supercharged and such. When they actually think wow im fast when i had one behind me as i blew the doors off of a freakin 350Z who had no traction what so ever off the line. Totally put em both in their place. But best to date ran an M3 from a 20 roll and by the time we hit about 130 or so he put a half a length or so on me. He was so impressed he wanted to talk sayin how he killed one a couple week ago..... Only to find yet again the 2.4 guys are giving us a bad name.... shame shame

It is way underrated. It has it's shortcomings, but it can be a powerhouse. The SS/na gives up SS/SC's a bad name and muds our credibility, and like any other SpoCom out there, we are full of posers too who think their factory SS/SC is faster than anything out there, and have not gone out to earn the due respect, or made the effort to pioneer any mods or tuning for their cars.

Intake and Exhaust does not = a fast cobalt.

I could not agree more. Cobalts are known as the underdogs and I personally always was a underdog fan. The thing is were truly not underdogs, Cobalts are just simply under rated. Give it a a few years and you will see the respect. I my area Cobalt ss/sc is getting alot more respect as time goes on. Specailly when you show them a time slip in the low 13s with all GM bolt ons. Now thats what I'm talking about. Got warinty? I know I'm keeping my 7 year 75k mile warinty, thats a pretty damn good bumber to bumber imo.

Sentra > than Cobalt SS/SC LMFAO! You let me know when a Sentra hits 310hp, then I will consider it equal. That reminds me of when I met my old buddy Mike at the track and was surprised to see him there because the last time I saw him he owned an OZ Lancer. When I asked him what he drove, he smiled and said "I just got an SE-R Spec V. It's so Fast!". And he asked if I still had my G6, and I said no, I got a cobalt SS. He said that we should race because it would be equal, and I laughed and asked how much power he thought he had. He said about 180whp, and I laughed again and said well I'm sorry 180<270whp

350Z's are also slower, but it's great to crush their ego's!
