Then by these definitions, we fit both catagories. Because people do underestimate (thinking we are slow) our cars, and "Officially" the Cobalt SS/SC is rated at 205hp, yes at like 5600rpm, but still. lol..
Not all of us are running our mouths, and this thread, I believe, was started to just show off how happy the original poster is about his car and give others there opportunity to do the same. I don't think it's that everyone stereotypes the owners of the Honda as much as the car itself, but then you have to remember that Honda has been one of the largest competitors in the Sport Compact World for how long?? I think it's just nice to see a Domestic vehicle (GM at that, and keep in mind that I am biased. lol) representing as well as it is. Instead of getting all upset, maybe you should be a little more appreciative of the fact that this is not only a Domestic vehicle that is holding it's own, but also that it's not all that bad looking either.
Now, I am a bit old school, so I can appreciate any properly modded (Properly as in, not slapping on a HUGE aluminum wing, bunch of stickers and cutting off the exhaust, or adding that GAY train whistle thing in the tip. lol) vehicle. Weather it be a Subaru, Honda, or even a Chevette with a massive motor in it, just as long as the driver is cool and not a dick.
All this being said, I take it you don't own a Cobalt. So with you being on a Cobalt website, you must be able to accept that there will be biased comments made about other vehicles just as you would hear massive amounts of bashing on a Honda website about the Cobalts and how slow they are. Just take it with a grain of salt and move on. No point in getting upset over a couple comments like that.

i prolly driven the car before most of the people on this site, he picked his black ss s/c up right when they first came out, his was the first one the dealer sold. i really like the cobalt and i'm not just attacking you guy i meant everyone who bashes honda, but i guess its like everything else

Sure the car doesn't have the greatest street or magazine cred but there must be some word flying around about the ss/sc cuz pretty much no one even bothers to try to race me anymore, and I'm completely stock! And as for the whole type-s and cobalt battle go to the track and figure it out among yourselves who's better. I haven't raced an rsx myself, for some reason everytime i see one a girl is driving and goin 60 in the fast lane, lol. Oh well at least most are kind hot.
ill have to disagree... my old car was an 01 camaro v6... it had 18" c6 machined/black replica rims giant tires in the back and a system that would rock the block... Tranny was going out and i hated that everythign was manual so i bought a new cobalt ss/sc, made tons of sense to me. Trade a bottom of the line camaro that looked pimp but wasnt in the best shape otherwise for a top of the line cobalt thats leather automatic everything (other then tranny) and faster then the old maro. Everyone i mean everyone thought i was crazy for getting a cobalt and selling that car. Lol now i drive what is know as a "girls" car so most people honestly have less respect for me... then again i dont care but thought id point out that the car does matter alot

Um...and to the topic question....my answer is that the cobalt isn't underrated, its just that most people see it as what you guys hate to admit...a cavalier. They don't know any better. So to them, they probably think it replaced the cavalier, it kinda looks similar to one, so it must not be much faster than one. The car is too new for its true potential to be known, up until a couple months ago, I'd never even seen an SC before, let alone knew anything about it. There are probably still tons of rumors floating around about what the cobalt truely is.
I don't know why all the magazines talk ****. Maybe its cause they've got lemons, or maybe its cause after beating the **** out of a bunch of cars, the cobalt didn't hold up as well. Or maybe its cause they all tested 05's that didn't have the kinks worked out of them yet.

Also, goin back to what you said DS sure the cobalt replaced the cavalier, but the rsx replaced the integra and now both models have bit the dust. Cars come and go and yeah most likely i'll beat a rsx type s, but then again most likely a srt-4 will beat me. There's always a car better than the other.

Its like anything, Honda has been around for years in the compact cars. What company has the best V-8 power? Chevy Corvette, everyone knows that companies make a certain name for them selfs with certain products. Now that the cobalt is out its new and it replaced the caviler. Chevy has been out of the scene with tuner cars for a long time now. This just makes it even tougher for the cobalt to gain respect. Its just something that will get better with time. Look at the SRT-4, everyone called it a slow neon when it first came out and made fun of it. Its not hard at all to get a SRT-4 into the 12s. Everyone has there preference to what they like. The problem is people just don't have respect for others and what they like. So you like a honda, so what. So you like a ford, so what. Its about the common intrest in tunning and performance that everyone should be into. Not creating certain groups to hate on other groups. Ohh well, its something that has always been around. I have respect for everyone because you never know what they can and can't afford. I don't look down at those escort drivers. Anyways, yea I think the cobalt ss/sc is deff. looked at as a under dog. Jason Witfield proved that wrong and I'm sure there is more to come with super charger swaps and more after market products.

And good job, another reason Cobalts are looked down upon, MOST (read: not all) of the owners ALWAYS bring up roll racing.

Anyways CGM whats wrong with roll racing. Thats the most common type of racing. Well for me anwyays, driving around and just go at it. And from a roll, driver modds are less important, so you can really see what the cars have to offer
