hey guys i was just wondering if anyone else has had a problem with their doors. my door wouldent shut until i got in it and locked it. i would literally shut my door and it would pop back open. it seems like the mechanism would not grab my door to keep it shut. my handles would move freely as if a cable inside was broken. then after locking and unlocking it about 20 times, it suddenly works fine again? help please

 

I never had this problem with my cobalt but i have had the problem on a different car.


Seems to me like its one of these problems.

1. The little door latch thing inside the door is breaking and sooner or later it will break.

2. The internals are lose.

I would say if you have worked on a door before to take the door panel off and check out the internals.


If you dont know what your doing you can either do one or the other. take it somewhere and let them know what happened see how much its gonna cost to have to take a look.

Or you can go to a U pull it or whatever junk yards you got arround there and take a door panel off and take a look at the internals and see how they work and such. Then after you got the basics go look at yours and see if you can determine the problem.

 

Its called an acuator. Go to the dealer and replace it. Its like a cheap plastic piece that breaks easily. GM failed at our doors. It happens alot. If you have warranty, this problem is covered by warranty.
