Downpipe/trans mounts

Well guys, I'd really like to buy this downpipe:

https://www.zzperformance.com/cobalt...=540&catid=155

However, I have a question about this disclaimer on the page:

"***Due to the movement of the engine on WOT shifts, 1 or more solid engine/trans mounts will be required. If they are not used, then the flex sections warranty is voided."

Since I assume this isn't bullshit, what exactly would you guys suggest to do, and what would be the most economical way to do it as far as mounts. 1, 2, what kind, etc. I'm not so familiar with these kinds of things.

And another thing, how much would this change the exhaust note on a stock 2.4l catback.

Thanks for the help guys

Oh, and I just saw that this DP is a 3". Wouldn't that be too big for a 2.4 anyway?

I just put that same downpipe on my car last weekend. The quality is excellent. I had a CTI downpipe at one time. The welds were shitty, it leaked, and when the flex section failed, the guy at CTI made up some lie why he couldnt replace it with a better interlocking type flex section (the flex didn't fail from engine movement, but from the mesh on the inside of it actually warping from heat, and constricting down to a 1.5" hole). ZZP uses the interlocking flex section which is much better than the one on the CTI downpipe. As for engine and trans mounts, all I have is a ingalls torque damper set at the tightest setting. I do plan on getting rotated mounts in the near future though. I don't think you will need solid mounts, but you deff. need to dampen the engine so it doesnt place added stress to the flex section. My car has a GM Performance Touring Muffler with 2.5" axle back piping on the stock 2.5" catback, and it didn't really get that much louder. It sounds deeper and more aggressive, but not louder. Hope that helps.

The 3" downpipe should be ok on your car since you have 2.4L, but you will notice more gains with further exhaust and engine work. Since you're still pretty much stock, your exhaust wont be that much louder. It will just be a different tone.
