Question Downshift to first gear?

I'm often finding myself in situations where I am going very slow in second, but first is still locked out, because it is too fast.
If I try to accelerate or go uphill at this speed in second, the engine will lug pretty badly.
Here's a scenario: suppose you are going 25 mph in second gear, and you need to make a turn onto a hill, so you slow down to 10 mph, and make the turn.
How do you accelerate back up to speed without lugging the engine?
Some way to double clutch into first gear and then proceed.
Others say slip the clutch in second until you get up to speed.
A few have even said just slow down until you can get into first and then proceed.
Thank you.

I find myself doing neutral drops since the rpms are low anyways and let inertia and the upward slope naturally slow me down enough to pop into first easily. There's a couple of back roads that are thin and winding that I like to take that are of high grade slopes this works well with.

Interesting, I mean you can brake as well to achieve this effect, it's just going to be a bit odd to whoever's behind you.

No issue as most people do pay attention. Otherwise, that's what my rear dash cam is for.
