So my e-brake is messed up. It doesn't click at all when I engage it and won't stay engaged on it's own. It still works, but I have to hold it in place or prop something under it to hold it. Any ideas what it could be?

 

You broke the same piece as I did long time ago lol
Is a piece with teeth that hold the ebrake

your best bet is to pull a whole assembly out of a junker at a salvage yard. it should be easy to find and cheap since they made like 098645908234658073246 cobalts.

 

How many clicks should the ebrake do? Mine does like 8 and its not engaging properly when the car is inclined

Well try adjusting and it didnt help at all im thinking its been maxed out already

 

Pull off the rear cup holders, and check the cables. There is a bracket that holds the e-brake handle cable and the two cables that run to each rear caliper. Sometimes one of the cables becomes disconnected...

 

Already did that and they are both connected. One pulls a bit more than the other but it's not much
