E85 and Oil

Whats your input on the best oil to run when using e85. I been running mobil 1 5w30 and seems fine and I hear stuff that mobil 1 is crap for e85. I been using it for 10 months and oil seems fine but If theres better stuff out there then I would consider it.

Personal experience would be great

Never heard of running different oil with different gas, but most people are shying away from mobil 1 lately and opting for pennzoil, myself included. Not sure of the science behind it; im just a fairweather guy going with the trends.

The way people today work, if someone famous or it comes from an "official source" such as the news, everyone does it. My dad thinks all oil and gas is the same. all 5w-30 that is.

Mobil 1 has 5W-40 Turbo Diesel Truck oil that has more acid neutralizers in it, and other companies have comparable products. The acidity from the fuel destroys the additive pack in the oil. That's why if you ever have an oil analysis done there is a category for fuel dilution, because it plays a role in how well your oil is doing.

oil is oil. what makes the oil different are the additives or "detergents" in the oil.
