Emissions with Cams

Has anyone had problems passing emissions with cams? Sometimes my car seems like its running a bit rich at idle. If their is any problem I could probably have Vince at Trifecta tweak things, but I would feel better knowing that I most likely won't have to run around trying to get the car to pass. This isn't just for 2.2's either, anyone can chime in. Thanks.

From experience with my other cars, it depends on the cams. The more aggressive the more emissions it will kick out. If you went with like a Comp Cams street cam you should be ok, if you went with one of their race cams you might have issues.

Well, I went today and passed. I don't think they actually read the emissions in CT. They just did a visual check to see if there was a cat and then they hooked up their machine to the computer to see if everything was in order.

Ahh ya CT is not like here in Cali, they check emissions levels and it can be a pain to get it to pass some times.

Back about 2002 I had to find a "friendly" smog shot to get my Camaro to pass :-) It was a 96 Z28 SS with a very aggressive cam, and that was the first year I had to smog it (in Cali you don't have to smog for the 1st 7 years on a new vehicle).

Yeah right. I'd get smoked. I'd better with all the effort you've put into your car.

I went with the stage 1 cams and they seem to be doing pretty well. I'm also on the stock IM. Tried the 2.4 and wasn't enthralled with it, but to each his own.

I've seen a fake cat somewhere that would probably work if you just had a visual inspection. Its basically a shell with 3" tubing through it.

haha, lets hope that work pays off tomorrow at the strip
and stg 1 is good, would be nice for more comfort day to day driving but i wasnt going for that

I dont have to worry about it yet, but its something ill look into if needbe...or just register the car at Gma's in a local county where they dont have emissions at all
