First off what are you driving right now? I'll take a stab in the dark it's a Cobalt LS,
but auto or manual, etc etc, these things play a huge role
As of now the turbo route is not looking promising for the auto guys.

also what "aftermarket" plans do you have? and if you are doing a turbo project, i sure as heck hope you're either rich or know what you are doing. you don't just slap on a turbo and go fast.
If you are serious than I would say the 2.2 5 speed will likely be the first to get a full blown aftermarket turbo kit. Auto's may or may not follow, the auto config doesn't accept the manifold/turbo/piping as readily, only time will tell if the auto guys will get any love.
The 2.2 will certainly have more aftermarket support as it was in the Cavalier from 2002 up til the end of the model. So there is a great deal of support for the engine itself.
With that said the SS 2.4 gets alot of other options that make it more desireable than the base models, but aftermarket support just hasn't had the opportunity to develop yet.

Seems like there would be more interest in modding the 2.4's as the majority of America is buying the 2.2's for family cars.
But, for whatever reason, the aftermarket vendors are going for the 2.2's.
I guess you have to go where the money is.
I ran into the same problem with my 99 Z24. All of the aftermarket support was for the reegular Cavi's and not the 2.4 that I had.
Either way, just do your research. Good luck!

So...
I'd search the solstice forums and things like that to see if anything is being worked on for the 2.4, then give whatever you find about a year before it gets ported over to the cobalt application.
K just had to squeeze my $.02 in there before the lock :P

Thats just based on the general idea that people who buy a solstice want performance, and people who buy a cobalt ss non s/c want economy with a little more power than a base model.
