FE3 Stabilizer Bar Bushing Cap

GM Parts Direct says I'm looking for part 22722387. 22722387 is discontinued, of course. Dorman lists 928-316 as a fit for the FE1 (18mm bushing) and as a direct replacement for 22722387. GM Parts says 22722387 will work for the 18mm and 22mm bushings, or for FE1 (soft ride) and FE3 (sport suspension).

IF I get the Dorman kit, do I run the risk of pinching, squishing or distorting my new MOOG bushings once I zip the cap down? I mean, it has to be made for the 18mm, right??

If you have FE3, you need the 22m as that's the size of the stabilizer bar. 23mm for the FE5 Turbo, 24mm for FE5 supercharged.
I got Moog's poly bushings when I replaced mine.

Yeah - I've got Moog bushings, and they're the correct 22mm size. My CAPS keep popping though. They're the slip-in tab style, not the 2 bolt style from the round tail Cobalts. The Dorman kit lists their 928-316 product as a replacement for GM's 22722387 (22mm and unavailable) but it also says that it's 18mm. I I am making the assumption here that Dorman is WRONG because wouldn't any cap larger than 18mm NOT fit and just slop around, and any cap that's too small cause the bushing to pinch and distort all to hell? I mean, that's been my experience with such things.

The Dorman kit wont work brotha with 22mm bushings as its just big enuff for the 18mm and that's it. You need oem ones from GM or go used like I did off of ebay. Here is a listing here for you.

Thanks for the listing. I figured Dorman was dead wrong on compatibility with the 22mm, it just didn't make sense. Snagged those ones in the listing, although I probably could have hunted the junkyards for cheaper. They didn't look too bad. Thanks man.

Yeah no worries brotha. I went through the same issue so that's why I know all about it lol. I tried around my area in nova scotia but they were all rotted out or in really bad condition. I got mine from somewhere in the states as well. Then once I got them re sanded them down and used industrial tremclad rust paint. Made them look brand new almost and now fully protected and should last a long time. Those oem ones will do the trick brotha. Glad I could help ya out.

I believe the 2-bolt style is actually for 08-10 cars (regardless of tail light configuration). Slip-in tab is 05-07 - my 05 SS/SC has the slip-in tab style (and round headlights ).

This is what I did with mine when I got my bushings replaced. Did the same with my control arms; any areas that are prone to road debris that I'm replacing, I'm coating them with several layers of thick paint.

lol yup us Canada boys know all about that winter road salt haha lol. I had to recently replace my gas tank shield also. of course they were all rotted out around my way in Nova Scotia lol. I ended up buying one off ebay from a ebay junkyard seller located in California. My god I wished I lived there and never have to deal with rust lol
