first problems with my ss sc

i just wanded to let everyone know to look there cars over good. I found a lot of problems with my car before even picked it up.

1. Theres a scratch on the inside of the windsheild so it has to be replaced.
2. Theres a chip out of the plastic wear the cupholders mount.
3. The leather on the pass side door is coming lose and i have to replace the door panel.
4. One of my rims is lighter in color than the other three and i mean a lot lighter.
5. When gm installed the subwoofer in the trunk they cross threaded a bolt and pulled out the stud it mounted to and was causing a very loud rattle.
6. Theres a stud that was rubbing on the intake tub.

I think a couple of these problems other people on the site have had too. So make sure you look your car over good.

My passengers side mirror casing is scratched. The trim is also peeling apart a little. An isolated incident. Also, that piece under the radiator--the black plastic--the screw broke on the drivers side and it was dragging. I had to jimmyrig it with a metal bolt and nut because the cheap-ass plastic one was long gone.

On my passenger side door the red leather is starting to come up from where the inside door handle is. My car pulls to the left. And last night when I was driving "ENG PWR REDUCED" came up on the dash and the car completely bogged down. Trust me you DO NOT want to be driving the car when that happens. It's runs terrible. I took it into the dealer today and they were a little leary at first because they thought I was driving it hard and blew a cylinder or something or the engine was misfiring or something. Anyways the work slip said the TPS was poor terminal contact and caused the ENG PWR REDUCED come on. It sucked driving it to the dealer that way.

The SS/SC is a great car, but you should never buy a car in its first year of production.

That's not true. Any problems are under warranty and besides...I'm sure it would look really good if NOBODY bought a car the first year it came out, why produce it? . So people that bought it the first year are somewhat of guinea pigs, but oh well.

Is it normal to hear lots of clicking noises after your car shuts off? I think it's from the exhaust.

I had the same problems with the rims, different colors. I had a post about it. took them more than a week to get 4 rims that matched. had to wait for my ss/sc. That sucked!! But now I love it!!!!

Every car does that clicking noise. It's from the exhaust cooling down from expanding and contracting.

Really the Saturn ION Redline was the first car to use the engine. So technically we are not the first of this engine.

The clicking sound is normal. The only problem I have had is the sunshade on my roof catches when u pull it back. It makes this horrible ripping sound so they are replacing it next week.

Telling people not to buy a Cobalt SS because it's a first year car is like telling someone not to breathe.

This is one of the best cars Chevy has made for a long time.

sure its a great car...but im reading post after post of people having problems...and sure everything is covered by the warranty, but Ive got better things to do then having to bring it in to the dealership every other week...that and all the dealership does is replace the same cheap part with another cheap part, that is going to break once the warranty is up...plus most cars experience a majority of its problems once the warranty is up...can you imagine the problems this car is going to have...I know its not possible, but personally i think theyshould have built this car in Oshawa(number #1 car plant in North America)...that way first time buyers wont be last time GM buyers

Well, if your definition of 'best' involves quality or longevity, (as mine does) then your statement is without merit.

Nobody knows how the car will stand up to the test of time yet. Like the increasing number of posts regarding the door inserts pulling away from the panel, waiting a year or two would give GM a chance to fix common real world problems.

Not saying it is a bad vehicle, just that nobody knows for sure yet.

But, you are generally going to hear about all of the bad stuff here online. The people that have no problems, such as myself, have no reason to post to bitch about anything. So it's going to seem worse then it really is.

I guess I'm not the only one having problems with the windows scratching easily, I just noticed one this morning on the outside of the windshield apparently caused by my wipers because it curves with the wiper motion, and the driver's side has a 1mm deep 1/4 cm long vertical scratch in it that I can feel with my nail when I run over it and I couldn't even begin to tell you where this came from.

Besides the air intake tube being different the Yellow SS/SC I looked at this weekend also did't look as well put together as mine.

- Wire looms were just trown around the engine bay

- Where the fenders attach under the hood all of the sealant/foam was exposed and painted yellow

- The wheels were different shades
