I have to second (or third) the advice already given. At 18 you should be focused on getting yourself in position to be successful in life. Cool cars will come. Put in the time/effort/money now so that in 5-8 years you are able to buy what you really want. That said, if you can get the TC without taking a huge hit, go for it. But if it is gonna cost you a lot in terms of the depreciation of the SC versus what you still owe on the car, it just isn't worth it IMO.
Good luck.

ugh good choice man white ss/tc......i was in the same spot i owed 10k on my cobalt ls and they would give me 5k for it. well i bit my lip and said give me the pen. my payment went from 280 to 328. wasnt to bad, but i wish i would of kept it but o well.
Yeah, the SS/SC is depreciated in price. I bought mine for 11,988 as a Certified used with 42,000 on the clock and with Stage 2. If you do the math, thats around a 8-9K drop in value from new.
It isn't just the SS/SC though. Many of us took a huge hit when GM declared bankruptcy and had to be bailed out. G5 owners took it even worse given that Pontiac was killed off. I remember a number of Alero owners that raged when they realized that their cars were worth less than a Grand Am right after Oldsmobile closed up shop.

do what i did! or something like it
you can also try a tvs swap. i have a friend that had 100k+ on his lsj running a tvs just fine. as long as you monitor/care your motor and have a good tune your fine, these motors are very strong.
There are also turbo kits available that replace the M62.
