forget modding 05

from what i heard there were 05 2.2 and 2.4 (not sure bout 2.0) with a different engine mount and what what i found out they have a different thermostat housing and coolant pipe (from water pump to thermostat housing) and this section of the car messes up everything with headers. i have the CA V1/V2 header, they dont fit. the vibrant header/dp combo, it dont fit. and the JBP Vortex header, it doesnt fit either. i had to go out and buy a 06 style engine mount to get the ingalls ETD and any of these headers to fit my car. so when you go to modify the header make sure you check this out.... pics if you ask

the engine mount design on some 2.2 cars in 05 is different so you have to swap the bracket to the other design to use aftermarket mounts/torque damper. this is the first i have heard about t-stat housing and pipes interfering with a header.

i am saying that the 05 (or atelast mine n a few others with the diff mount, from what i have ran into) have a diff t-housing then the 06 and the t-houseing hits a lot of headers so either they dont bolt down tight or the head doesnt go back on right

I dont see how you would either... i was under the impression the blocks are the same diff internals? or was it same dimmensions for the blocks? idk either way i dont think what your saying is right. Not that im calling you a liar i just think you didnt do it right or something. Who knows tho. its late im going to sleep.

same blocks, dimensions, n that ****. just the thermostat housing itself is in a different location and it is a different size with mine compared to the years with the "other mount" (mount that works with ttr mount n ingalls etd). i have pics or can get them to show

FWIW in 2005 there was a 2.2 L61 and the 2.0 LSJ, there was no 2.4 in 2005, that was added for 2006.

As others have said, there is definitely some engine mount funkiness going on. Glad to hear you got the t-stat housing figured out.

i wasnt aware of that. thanks for lettin me know that.

yes that is all im tryin to get across. and the t-stat housing on those cars cannot be twisted like 06 so the CA v1/v2 headers, vibrant header/dp would fit if (the pipe that needed twisted for 06) you dent it 1/4"-1/2" cuz of the large/oval primaries, the jbp vortex header wont fit cuz it hits the actually the pipe coming out the water pump (thats slightly differnt too) and the t-stat housing cover that holds that pipe to the t-stat housin (which is completely different too)

There's a couple differences like this between the two I have noticed as well. First thing I noticed was the mount too. Also there are some bolts on the 05 in the engine bay that interfere with ****, that have been moved in 06 and above models.
