Found a NEW 2009 black coupe LT2

On the dealer lot. Never sold. Doesn't have AC is the problem. Absolutely no power features or anything. It's the most base model available in '09. The salesman told me it's $15K and that it's a "great" deal. I said I'd give them half that. He didn't respond.

They're gonna have this thing forever and when they do sell it it's gonna be for nothing.

Vehicle: 2009 Chevrolet Cobalt LT2 Coupe
Vehicle Type: Coupe
Trim: LT2 Coupe
Interior:
Transmission: 5 Speed
Engine: 2.2L L4 DOHC 16V
Drive Train: 2WD
Mileage: 1
Price: $15,800

There is no way it can be an LT2 if it doesnt have any options. thats just a cobalt. it doesnt even get an LS badge.

right! I worked for a chevy dealer and the options are what make it what level it is. If it base as hell like that then its just a base LS. Not all of them have badges. I sold one just like that for I believe 8something almost 9 grand and that was 2 years ago. I believe it was a 2010 even lol, granted it was a screaming deal and there were quite a few cash back incentives(special rebates and employee pricing). They must be nuts.

By now I bet they've made enough monthly payments to GM that the dealer fully owns the car, and since they probably slowly paid it off because it never sold they paid like 1.5x the invoice price on it from GM. They might as well let that baby go for like 6 grand and cut their losses.

Looked at pics. It has an LS badge on the left of the trunk and what appears to be a flexfuel badge on the right. It has a CD player. It has the big antenna on the roof but don't know if it has onstar. For lug steelies with hubcaps. The steering wheel has two buttons on the left side. It's a stick. Manual windows. The guy emailed me and said he'd take 10,500.00 for it. Again, no AC though.

edit: I can see mudflaps behind the front wheels. Tinted windows. Black exterior. Gray cloth interior.

I don't think that's true. I've seen the black HVAC with only a button for rear defrost, no AC or recirc button.

I think a few were made to bring the advertised "base" price down. That's what usually happens. Hyundai did this with the Accent and Nissan did it with the Versa.

Anyone have a list of parts to add AC?

Compressor, Condensor, larger belt, some kind of lines, ????

Maybe the badge on the bottom right of the trunk is XFE? Found this:

2009 Chevrolet Cobalt XFE Coupe 2.2L 4-cyl. 5-speed Manual Features and Specs

Only four exterior color options and one interior option. AC isn't listed as standard.

I'd buy that and build a racer out of it in a heartbeat if the price was reasonable.

I was thinking about buying it for a DD and making my 08 SS a fun car with a larger turbo and E85 tune or something like that. Only problem is I'd only pay like $6K I think. I know they won't do that. Maybe I'll go up there with the cash and see. May sound lowball but... I'm poor and to me $6-8K sounds like a reasonable amount.

that's what I was thinking. As many used ss parts as are out there, upgrades would be cheap. buy that stripped down lightweight and whip the **** out of it!

Here's a link:

2009 Chevrolet Cobalt - New Coupe Oklahoma City OK | Wheeler Chevrolet

Dealer said it had to be considered "sold" in June 2011. Don't know if a contract fell through or that's when the dealer finished paying for it. 3yr/36,000mi warranty is up in June 2014 and 5yr/100,000mi drivetrain is up in June 2016.

It might be a good deal for someone up north where AC isn't that big a deal. Too damn hot down here.

If you buy it, you have to trade me trunks as a finder's fee. LOL.

That's actually how I found it. I was looking for black coupes in my area to swap trunks with.

Lol that's a Cobalt LS... They might have mistaken the description on the website for the LT. I personally wouldn't pay more than 8g's for an LS. Even if it's a 0 mile 2010 model. It's way too basic. No fogs, no aux for radio, no power locks or windows, no mirror in the driver's sunvisor, no sunroof, no mirror caps, no wheels, no exhaust...

Scion TC's sell for the same price or cheaper and come with all those options and power everything. Basically same engine as well.

dealers do that stuff all the time. my brother has his own business, and some of his Contracts are with new car dealers for tint. he has some used car lots, and he does tint, remote starts, and radio installs with them

Vin Decoded this: VIN Decoder - Cobalt SS Network

MFR model code 1AV37
Body type: 2dr Car
Pass Doors: 2
Alternative name: Coupe Base 1VL
Alternative body: 2dr Car
Drivetrain: Front Wheel Drive

Don't pay for a carfax, but show's that it has 10 records on it. KBB shows it's worth just under 9k. No way they're gonna get 15,800 for it IMO.

It's not 15k. They said they'd take $10.5k. Pretty sure they'd go even lower.
