Generic Mufflers?
Hey guys.
I know that many of you have the GMPP or some sort of very expensive exhausts on your Cobalt. I don't. Mine is the stock SS one. I think it sounds good, but I want a TAD louder. And I don't want it to sound rediculous at all. Stock, just a tad louder. What is the best way of doing that? On my Monte, I have a stock exhaust, but with 2 Dynomax Super-Turbo mufflers and resonated tips. It sounds GREAT! Woudl that basic fomula work on the cobalt too, or do only canister-style mufflers sound good on a 4 cylinder? The only reason I say canister is because I've heard flowmasters on 4 cylinders and they sound TERRIBLE. I was thinking either Thrush turbo or Dynomax Super-Turbo. I'm really not trying t ospend too much, but I don't want APC either. lol.
Thanks!

go ith a muffler off ebay...... screw what everyone else says lol their the same thing, al long as get one made from stainless its fine... your just paying for name.... i had a $200 canister before, and then now i have 2 $25 ones from ebay, no differen ce
the canister mufflers tend to be a little louder than other typs of mufflers, unless it is long and wide. try magnaflow.. i have the stock ss exhaust on my cobalt with a magnaflow on the end. its not TOO loud but the sound is perfect. i have videos , but they kinda distort the sound so it doesnt sound as good on the videos.

That is EXACTLY what I want! Sounds great! The only downside is mine's auto, so it won't sound as good since it won't be in the powerband as much. Is there alot of droning on the highway? That was my issue with my exhaust I had on my older Accord. So the oval 2.5 will be exactly what I need? Also, resonated or non-resonated tips? what's the difference, really? And lastly, do you have any more pics of the rear of the car and or just of the muffler? I want to know exactly what I'm looking for... Thanks!!
there is a little difference in resonated tips. mine came with a resonated dual tip because of the body kit. it might sound better without one, but i dont know.

i dont have a picture of the muffler, but its part number 11226

The ebay stainless ones are not the same as a good named muffler. I had a generic one on my rx7 because you had to have some kind of muffling device at the track. I blew the welds right apart on it. If your going to get one on ebay at least get one that is a decent name.

I found the muffler on the site wth the part number. Shows like 120 online. I'm sure I can get it alot cheaper...
