Man if only I could find a decent GTZ I think I would just sell my SS for payoff and tinker with the GTZ, waiting patiently for someone on here to wreck their TC so I could get it for parts.

"She had lots of great insight," he said. "I need her, and here she was teaching me things about the car."
wow... a 17 year old girl was teaching a vice president of a auto manufacturing company things about a car...

We bought out XFE 1LT in July, have 17K on it and it runs great. No rattles and 34 MPG.

I didn't expect a Caddy when we bought it, just good gas mileage. It was also a cash for clunkers car.

Sure, all well and good, but did the car do it's job? Sure it did. It was by far the SLOWEST Z2x model GM made, I had low 16 second quarters with that car, there was absolutely no reason the highest EVER torque gen 3 v6 should have behaved this way but it did. GM downgraded power output form my 1990 GTz at roughly 190 to 155 for my 96 Z26, awesome GM, and they did away with the manual option in 94. Not to mention I had a head gasket failure, radiator failure water pump failure and eventually it crapped a valve before it hit 160K, all because of that new fangled DEXCOOL...again awesome GM innovation.
I worked at the boxwood, Delaware plant for 5 yrs (summer job between college). Some of the finest corsica's and beretta's rolled off the line in my days. Talk about poor fit and finish They were falling apart before they even left the finishing line. I always found it funny that of the thousands of cars in the employee parking lot, you'd be hard pressed to find a beretta/corsica. Speaks volumes of employee confidence in their own product...

Not picking on you..just stating how far GM has come. Cobalt is a lexus compared to the crap they used to make IMO. By no means perfect, or even above average , but a huge step up from what they used to make.

Way to back your vehicles..

But really, the base model does suck.. The SS is the only one I'd ever buy.. My girlfriends LS is a piece of **** next to mine.. Still drives and stuff, but it's just bland..

And, for the record, a base model Cobalt is leaps and bounds better than ANY Cavalier..

yeah my fiancee has a 4 door LT. It's all the same plastics, but for some reason it just feels less quality. She mentions it to me almost everyday. I just tell her she's crazy.

I doubt that GM watches this web site....they might dunno.....GM does watch Camaro 5 like a hawk..I know that for sure. I think that is complete bullshit for that clown to say that....I dont think its correct to drag this thread over there, but I think the man would find himself in deep ****.
I do have a friend that is way up in GM, I will bring it to his attention.

Hmm, let's see with mine...almost 71000 miles, driven like hell every day. Pretty much stock (intake only mod). Everything works fine, little bit of wear on the silver trim on my drivers door controls. Been in the shop twice, once from me learning to drive the car (axle) and once for a cracked flex pipe(fed emission waranty covered). Can honestly say the best car I've owned. Test driven a 2010 MS3, felt it was lacking. Driven 2010 v6 Camaro and was disapponted, Cobalt felt stronger. 2005-9 Mustangs are down to driver skill for me. Dynoed 237 whp, 207 tq with intake.

The Cobalt is what it is. A cheap economic car. And it worked. They are everywhere.

Yes, I drive one, daily. I've also driven an SS/SC and an SS/TC.. The seats are, different, sure. The steering wheel is different, sure. But you're trying to say that the quality of the SAME plastic that is on my pillars, and door paneling, and kick panels, etc, is of less quality than yours? Absolutely not. Your suspension, from the factory, is a bit more fine tuned, shall we say, and of course is better than that of a base model, sure, cool rims, fancy sun roof, quicker motor. But honestly, there should be no hate between SC/TC/LS, seriously.. We're all driving the same cookie-cutter-econ-box car. You just paid more for yours because of a faster motor and some bells and whistles, which, as far as I'm concerned, is just more of a reason for **** to go wrong. I have a few friends with the SS, as daily drivers, and they seem to have twice the problems than that of myself.

not really related well kinda but i have the same steering wheel in my solstice as the corvette zr1 that is uncalled for for a car that cost 100g's, also owned a ion redline. gm's problem is there interiors on almost all there cars suck. and on the outside there bland.

I noticed my SS/TC steering wheel looked strikingly similar to the steering wheel on the vette in the showroom.

1990-1994 was the GTZ. The Z26 replaced it starting in 94 and went to 96 when they cancelled the Beretta all together. How did you have a 96 GTZ??

Cobalt SS Driver Calls GM Exec "Horrible"

While driving his car, long time Cobalt SS enthusiast firemanfrank was blunt:
"Look at this guy, he's horrible. How did he get through so many people to make it to the top."

For an extra 10-15k I would hope its a lot nicer car.

I've got 32k miles on my Cobalt and it doesn't have lots of creaks, pops, and squeaks. Its got a couple but no worse than my 05 Scion tC had. Its much better than the Toyota Corolla with less than 1k miles I spent weeks driving while they repeatedly fixed the Scion.

I have 72k on mine, use it everyday in the North with our shitty winters, and I don't have any problems with it that I would not expect from the mods I have done and the use it takes.. Overall, I'm not gonna bash the car at all.. But then again, I'm not a GM exec.. lol

I mean, if you want to be honest, my 1984 Delta 88 is a more solid car. No rattles, squeaks, etc.. But then again, cars back then were made like tanks. If I wanted the same kind of build quality, I would have went to the Cadillac dealership. You bought an economy car - what do you expect? A Bentley?

The car was released in 05 and developed in the years prior. Sitting in it now what does he expect?

Yea, I can agree though, the Cobalt really isn't that great of a car. I've driven a base model before and they're ****. The economy isn't that good when compared to other 4cyls and everything just feels and sounds so cheap and cheesy....
