I love my Valentine. Most of the time I keep it in the big dog. I need to get a laser jammer.

I have a Whistler - an older model that was given to me. It goes off at anything, especially traffic lights and around airports. It does not discriminate! If you can put up with the annoyance, it is very sensitive.

It's saved me from more than one ticket.

I'm sure the newer ones are much better at rejecting false signals.

I ended up buying a wireless Whistler for $60. At least if it doesn't work out well I am not out $300+.

The Valentine gives a great warning for radar with relatively few false alarms. The laser is a problem because of the instant on nature of the readout. The ability to know the location of multiple sources of radar is something I really appreciate.

There are other good units, but the Valentine is working well for me.

Any of you guys have feedback on laser jammers?

I had a Valentine1 hardwired in days after I bought my cobalt. It has already saved my ass a few times. It does give a lot of junk signals but there is a setting to change it. Its overall a fantiastic piece. It makes different sounds depending on the signal it picks up, and will light up an arrow pointing in its direction. Easy to use, understand, and has given me up to 20 some seconds of warning at times.

V1 = Counter + Arrows + awesome detection.

Although, Laser sucks, but no detector could protect you from that.. it pretty much says "Bam, your hit"

I was lookin for the best price for the Valentine 1. I dont understand why on ebay (469 plus shipping), the price is even higher than the manufactures site (399). Does anyone know where i can get the best deal from? And how much is shipping gonna be if i buy it from valentine1.com. They dont list it.

I have a valentine one that I actually bought used from someone off here. My dad has an escort x50 that he bought brand new so his should work better right? Wrong! We put them both side by side in his truck on the way to chicago a couple months ago and the V1 gave an earlier warning EVERY time. My only gripe about it is the false alarms but you can tell when something is a false alarm b/c it is usually on x band. Also I dont like that you have to reach up to the detector to mute it. On dad's escort theres a mute button on the plug and it didn't seem to have as many false alarms.

Now how much of an earlier warning was there and is that earlier warnin worth spendin double. I think id rather jus pay 200 and get the bel rx65 which is supposed to be similar to the escort. In this thread, someone posted that the bel gives warnings way earlier than the escort. I jus wanna get more peoples opinions before i spend my money and i don have my car yet. In a couple months il need a radar detector because my car will actually go somewhere when i hit the gas.

Thats what I thought about my S2 when i first got it, but it was a gift from my father so I'm not complaining too much. lol I rarely get a false reading. I have no cord to deal with making it easy to remove quickly and change from car to car. I go through 2 AA's a month so thats 24 AA bateries a year and I drive more than 2k miles a month. So far I've been pleasantly surprised. Although I'd rather have a better hard wired one it just isn't worth the money to me when I have one that works fine.

So what do you guys think? Should i get the X50 for $230 or is the valentine worth the extra $170? How much better is the valentine?

So is this better than the valentine? The valentine has two radar sensors (one for the front, one for the back). It does look kinda big from the pictures. Hopefully the 9500i is gonna be on ebay cheaper soon, but i got a month to wait before i need to order one.
