Got me a 2006 SS

Even after reading of all the problems and even a few horror stories here, I got me a cobalt last week. So far I really love this car. It's not SC, but it doesn't need to be. It's so much fun to drive as it is. Hopefully I don't run into too many issues and I can keep it nice for some years to come. I understand it's a beefed up econobox, but it's sweet for what it is.

I've found a few things I'll need to get to in the near future, even at just 23k miles, but it's a positive to be able to identify these things from reading here.

This board really helped make the purchase. Folks take the time to address in detail, solutions to most of the common problems. That is a gold mine really. I'd like to thank folks for sharing such great information. I'm already ordering a few things for when I'm ready to do some work.

Not to mention all these bolt on goodies. No wonder you guys love your cars. Intakes, exhaust, brakes, some elbow grease and you can really make a difference for a modest amount of money. I bought this car to drive, but now I want to take it apart and add things just as much. I'd love to feel the difference without restriction on intake/exhaust. Or even just exhaust for now.

Heck ya...

So thanks for all the great info! Premium membership on it's way.

Yes, 2.4. I was trying to be patient and get a SC/TC, but I found one that was well taken care of for a good price and couldn't pass it up.

Thanks! I'd like to get all the bolt on stuff for intake and exhaust, that all seems easy enough. ZZP products look like a pretty good value. Other than that I'm going to keep my eye on the common stuff and fix as needed. I need to figure out how to keep a smooth ride. I keep my cars for a long time and I don't want this one rattling apart like my blazer if I can help it.

I'm not worried of flack. My everyday peers wouldn't know the difference anyway. But yes it is a five speed. That was the whole idea. I'm tired of driving an automatic.

I might do some pics later on if I find myself around a nice background and some good light.

I haven't been this excited about a car in while.

right on man, these cars are a lot of fun to zip around in I still love goin for a drive in mine mostly because its manual and its just a blast perfecting the technique, feels more like you're really "driving" doesn't it? Anyways enjoy the car man I know I have!

p.s yeah you can tell the average person your LT is an SS and they would believe you

I don't know why, but it seems like the 05's have less problems. I dunno. I probably just don't pay attention to everyone
