I live out near the airport now, but when I first got the car and was learning to drive it I lived in Forest Hills. On one hand, that was hell trying to get up and down some of the hills, but on the other hand I learned how to handle steep hills really well.

Name of the motor in 08 and newer SS's.

The LSJ is the supercharged 2.0L in the 05-07's.

Don't be afraid to screw up... It's almost like a right of passage when learning stick, to kill it in the middle of traffic and **** people off behind you. Otherwise, just keep practicing and it'll eventually be second nature!

A tip to alert other drivers to the fact that you're driving a manual... If I'm stopped on a hill and I see someone coming up behind me I let it roll back a bit.

Just kind of a "Heeey. I'm in a manual so unless you want your damn bumper smashed.. give me some room."

Dude, I've owned my '07 SC since Sept 2009 and I STILL grind from time to time just on general driving. Believe the problem is that the shifter ratio is quicker than what I learned on...'74 Mustang II, '81 Olds Omega (blame my parents for those two cars), and a '85 Mustang GT I personally owned from 1988-2009.

Like some of these guys say, get used to it before hitting it..work up to 1/2 throttles...then 3/4...etc.

Hey, BTW, did any of you notice that the car is hard to start if you kill it, or is there just something wrong with my '07 SS SC...or is there a trick like shutting off the ignition and turning it back on to get it restarted?

its because there is too much gas in the cylinder because it was throwing gas in right as it stalled so it didnt burn. it justs takes a bit to burn it off then it starts

ive also found it takes forever if you don't completely let off the clutch when you stall it. luckily for you im a shitty driver and ive figured out the trick... make sure you release the clutch all the way after it stalls. then just push the back in like normal before re-cranking your engine again. it re-fires in a split second after that. to reiterate; the key is to fully release the clutch after stalling.

my guess is you are stalling the car before you foot is completely off the clutch. and right after it stalls you are probably just mashing your foot to the floor for a fast restart???

Stalled only like 3 times since I owned it (Sept 2009), but about half way travel of clutch, then yes, press it right back down without first release to the top. Thanks, I'll try to remember that one next time I clunk it.

Hey Shibito, how would you compare the shifting in the Terminator vs a LNF? I happen to know the Cobra is not the easiest to shift, but I've never driven a Cobalt SS before. I would assume its cake compared to the notchy T-56 and the "might as well be a workout" clutch.
