Help with headlight and HID Purchase

OK as the title says im looking to get replacement headlights for the cobalt. i have a 2005 SS/SC. i want the black housing headlight. I understand that the 2nd generation of headlight is the best to get. can anyone point me in the direction of the 2nd generation headlight from a reputable seller? also i would like to replace the bulbs with a 6000K system. could anyone reccomend a setup that would work well with the headlight?

also what about fog lights? is it easy to put HID's in these as well? or is it dangerous to mount the ballasts so close to the street because of the elements?

i really appreciate all the help guys.

I have the same year/car.

As far as the projectors go, check out our vendors. I bought mine from Modernperfromance. But all after market headlights come from the Chinese. So you are risking it.

As far as the H.I.D."s go, all you need to do is replace the bulbs. Just because you want to change the kelvin, you dont have to replace the ballast.

The easiest way to mount the fog lights is in under the splash guard area IMO. To me, to change out the bulbs, would be easier to just take out the head light housings. But to put the ballast in there, might be better to take out the splash guard.

And as the elements go, you should be fine, just as long as you put the splash guard back on and you have no openings in the ballast. (if they're used)

I put these on my car:

I put 8k hid's in those.

If your looking for a reputable brand as well Ive had McCullouch in my past 3 vehicles and have had nothing but the best with them. You can find some great pricing on HIDs at either HIDworld.com or HIDplanet.com. goodluck

Nope, all the ballast just ignites the bulb. Thats pretty much it. All HID bulbs should run the same amount of power of them. Someone correct me if im wrong. So just because you switch out bulbs and put different bulbs in the old ballast, will not burn out the factory wiring. Matter of fact, HID's run a lower wattage then regualr halogen bulbs.

And for bulb size:
On the EBAY page it says it uses H7? But I never knew that. Hmmm. But those are CCFL's. Have fun, I heard good things about them.

No? I was saying from a few people who had/are enjoying those headlights.

Even those are not my cup of tea, but its all about what you like.

Yeah, every after market part, no matter if its an intake or projectors', they're going to be some bad apples out there. And many people have dislikes. So sometimes you just have to live and learn for your self. Like buy and see them for your self.
