help oil problem

so i went to the local pepboys to get some oil for a oil change. Picked up 5 qt's of royal purple
well turns out somone dident put them on the shelf right and i assumed it was right and got 3 qts of 10w-30 and 2 qts of 10w-20 . well guess which 2 i put in first ....

so my question should i drain it and buy the rest of the correct oil or mix it and say screw it?

i dont really know all the specifics so sorry if it seem like a no brainier.

Yeah what they said. And run 5w30. No need for anything thicker.

Well, if you just added the two 20's so far, I'd drain them and go get two 30's. If you've already mixed all of them, then you could either run it, drain it all, or drain part of it and top it off with 30's. I really doubt the mix would hurt anything, but it would probably bug me. I would probably take the route of draining a couple quarts worth and adding a couple quarts of 30 weight. In the future you might consider just going to Walmart and getting a 5 quart jug in a different brand. You'll save yourself some money, not have to worry about getting all of the same bottles, and have an empty jug to put the old oil in next time you change it.

two quarts of 5-20 will not harm your motor.

As long as it is the same brand and make of oil, you can mix the weights and it won't hurt anything. Mixing a 5w20 and 5w30 will just give you the equivalent of a 5w~25 oil.
