Patience grasshopper

It depends on a lot of things. If you're ready to buy, make sure you express that and that to the salesperson.

Do a search and see what others paid with the same package.

If you ordered it, doesn't that mean there is a set price? Or can you still negociate the price when you go to pick it up?

After you sign, they own your soul.

True. The following will only apply if you haven't signed (which I'm kinda betting you did if you ordered it). Your best bet is to go to edmunds.com and look up the options on it and find out what the invoice is. You can usually get a little below invoice. Most dealers pay somewhere right below invoice for the car. GM reimburses them for the incentives, so take that into account too. If you're paying cash, it's going to be hard to bargain down real low... but you should get somewhere around invoice.

Remember... the power is in YOUR hands when you're at the dealer. But don't get arrogant. You have to be firm, but not offensive. They want to sell you a car, but more so, they NEED to sell you a car to make money. Don't let them make you feel bad about bargaining over price. The best way to handle it is to set a goal before you go in (let's say just below the invoice for the sake of this story). After you talk to them and see what they offer, if it's not low enough, you can throw out those magic words: "If you can get it down to $xx,xxx then I'll buy it now." Who knows, with incentives, they might be able to go a few hundred below invoice. A lot of people don't realize that dealers don't actually pay invoice a lot of the time.

Of course if you already signed, then you are screwed. Good luck!

being that i worked there, and the manager was always cool with me... they gave it to me for $500 over invoice, and gunna give me about 4K for a 2002 cavi LS, with painted door panals and dash. So i'm pretty happy. I'll be officially aprt of the rest of u owners in a few week!

I am sorry but, the question begs to be asked.....If you worked at this dealership how come you are asking us ??? I am not trying to be sarcastic but, if anyone would have the inside info....would be yourself!!! If you ask me I also don't understand why you would order a car and not make a deal prior to ordering it ??? Am the only one confused ???
