Arrow A How To on getting parts made for our cars:

Well I figured since I have been doing this for a couple of months and I think its been helping getting the aftermarket to recognize our needs. For all of us that want tail lights and head lights and turbo kits superchargers etc., here is what we all need to do to be heard in our requests.

Example: Gauging interest in getting a turbo kit produced -

1. Go to yahoo search engine

2. type in turbo kit

3. read thru results to see which results are appropriate (even if the company only does specific cars e-mail or call them anyway to at least put the cobalt out there for the tuners to think about)

4. go to the companys web page look for an e-mail address first and attempt to write them a convincing message as to why they should produce the part in question and how it would benefit the cobalt community and the company. (if no e-mail then take phone # down and call to express interest)

5. at the end of the e-mail include www.cobaltss.net for them to look over and see if they would like to make a gauging interest thread.

6. wait for response from company then go from there on what you feel you need to do to get the process going

7. give the cobaltss forums on update on whats going on to see if we can help the process

8. sit and wait for part to be made

try to do this for at least 10 different companies for each part

if anyone else has any tips on getting this done please add to thread. thanks.

the last time i did this was when i searched for projector headlights and e mailed everyone on ebay and the internet that made them for the cavalier ans asked them to make it for the cobalt, and 1 month and a half after that there was the 1st set on ebay sold for close to $700, im not sure why a 2nd set hasnt been up for sale yet if they made that much profit off the first set...

according to the manufacturer, they will not be producing them until May. We have spoken to them directly on this and are arranging to carry the lights...aparently that was a gimick to guage interest on the headlights so they know whether they are worth going into production for.

i wouldnt know for sure, but there are no signs pointing to any evidence that you are helping this community get new parts

I think it helps to take your car to the track. Let other enthusiasts know there are people out there racing cobalts, and that they can go relatively fast. Word needs to catch on as well, so hopefully we get some new vendors.
