This is from Car and Driver's annual Lightning Lap event at VIR. I'm pretty impressed with some of the cars were faster than. We're by far the best performance per dollar.

 

Is that the one where gm sent them the non lsd car to run?

I cant make anything out from the picture at all.

 

I pulled it up online because I couldn't make out times from the picture anyway. It's sad that 2008 tech still has the better time than the THREE runs the ford st has made at it. Just think how good it would have done if they allowed the factory gms1 tune to be added. We all know that on the straights the 22 psi of boost can make lots more than the factory 15.

We have a real LSD, bigger turbo, and less weight so I'm not too shocked we're faster than the ST. Some of the other cars we beat, like STI'S and Evo's, surprised me. We're also only like 1 second slower than the Golf R and Audi S3 which I found funny.

Kinda fun though, I love how "underground" this car is, I still get asked by people "my sisters got a cobalt, but it don't have brembo's and racing seats!?" People just dont know they made the SS... and those who are hating are probably just jelly a checy beat them lol

 

I could count on 1 hand how many people actually knew they put turbos on these cars. No one knows the potential of these cars except the owners. No one thinks I should have traction issues because everyone has ridden in one of the stock base models. I think that's part of the issue with getting respect. That and guys like the ones in SS gang who talk disrespectful to everyone.

 

i wish i could get to VIR with the car the way it sits now and see how i could stack up to these times.

For me I get the opposite... no one knows about the supercharged cars.

 

WTF where do these people come from??? hahaha. i **** you not, i had a race the one day against a speed3 and he honked and i was gone. he goes how is your supercharged cobalt that fast?? i said its turboed?!?! he goes oh i thought i heard a supercharger people are so dumb!!!!

 

The only time it bothers me is when I talk with others about the car and no one believes me. Other than that I'm ok with no one wanting to race or anything, I can just drive in peace and not deal with asshats. I know what she will do and I'm satisfied with that.

 

That is one of the biggest things for me when someone asks about the car and then they say there's no way it makes that kind of power or they give you that look like your a unicorn lol

 

I plan to dyno mine this week and I can carry a laminated copy of the sheet in the car. That will be followed with "wow that dyno must read really high". It's all good.

 

What's stopping you? I drive from Saint Louis every year to hit VIR. It's worth the trip.
