If Cobalts are so bad...
If Cobalts are so bad...
then why is it that everyone I've come across who has one loves it? There's a lot of haters out there, I just wanted to get that off my chest. If you think it's a bad car, drive one.
And yet, here you are on CSS.net

The car's just fine. I'd say it's just like someone hating a Civic Si/RSX/Eclipse GT who's never driven one, you'll find them anywhere.
Besides, just like Hondas, people love to hate Chevys.

because gm wasnt really original with their concept of the cobalt. The cobalt body is pretty damn similiar to the cavalier body, just bigger bumpers, body kit so forth.... Honestly for 24,000 i coulda bought a used car with 30,000 miles on it and it would keep its value better than a cobalt would...
The cobalt right when i drove it off the lot i lost 4 thousand dollars right off the bat... Then when i traded it in 3 months later i lost a total of 8 grand.... I put a 12,0000 dollar down payment on the car... **** pisses me off...
now look at an 04 vw r32, 5 years old and their still worth 18-19 grand with 50 thousand miles on them.... our car 4-5 years old would be worth 6-7 thousand dollars

Being on this forum is not all about owning and loving cobalts... Some of the biggest contributors to this site dont have cobalts.
All in all, I joined because i had a cobalt, i stayed to make fun of CC08...
Not to mention i have a 09 SSTC on the way, they finally fixed the main problems i had with my SSSC so im gonna give it another shot..

I've had 1 Citation (81 X11), 2 Celebrities(84,85), 8 Cavaliers of varying vintages (91,99,88,84,96,98,85,98), two Luminas (93,98) and two Cobalts (05 base,07 SS/SC) and those cars have taken the most wicked beatings you can imagine.
But everyone I know with a Volkswagen, either hates their car, admits it has issues and loves it, or gets rid of it ASAP... I've worked on these cars and still am amazed how they manage to hold any value. Out of all the so-called imports I've worked on, probably the toughest have been (and this'll kill you) Subaru and Nissan.
I love my Cobalt and get hated on by the import fanboys here, but that little 'SS' emblem on the trunk gets respect at least.

If you take care of them they'll last you.
The only reason why VWs hold their values more than Chevys is because of the false perception that everything that's not American made is better. If you look at VW's dependability ratings in J.D Powers rankings, it's almost at the very bottom. Yet if you also look at their top 10 cars that retain their value the most, they have like 3 cars on there. Now how is that possible? Again because IF it's "German" everyone automatically assumes it's greater than a Chevy so people are willing to pay more the the VW over the Chevy. It's all false perception.
Everyone down here says that they dont/dislike the cobalts. But people actually come up to me at gas stations and even in other forums saying that they really like my car. Ive never got one bad compliment about my car and so many good ones.
yeah, for an ugly cavalier clone, i sure get a lot of good feedback in person.
