If you have an SS - how's your leather wearing?

I've seen more than a couple pictures now of the seats in the SS, and the leather doesn't seem to wear well. In the pics I've seen, the passenger seat usually looks great, but the driver's seats have appeared pretty creased and worn for a car with at max a few thousand miles. Admittedly one pic I saw like that was of an auto show car (NYIAS, I think), so no doubt that one's taken more abuse than normal... but anyway....

If you have an SS, and especially if you've had it for a few months now, how's your leather holding up?

How many miles are on your car?

Well my current car has 48k miles, but that's not what I was asking. Did you even READ the post?

JK .. I'm wondering if someone that owns an SS can comment. Here's a couple pics showing a slight example. Look at the difference between the driver and passanger seat. Notice how the driver's seat is a bit creased already? Pretty minor, but that car can't have more than 2000 miles on it. What's it gonna look like after 20,000? Or maybe someone just has a fat ass?

I realize we're dealing with an econobox here, not a Mercedes. But I was hoping the leather wouldn't be ultra-cheap. Could end up looking like ass in 2 years...

When it comes down to it, the Cobalt is still an economy-class car that uses cheap leather. And the whole seat isn't even leather, just the seating surfaces. I'm choosing the cloth seats for a reason. Inexplicably, virtually every single LS coupe in my area (according to GM Canada's website) has leather seats though.

Oh I realize it's still an economy car. Believe me I know - I currently drive an 00 Mustang. Fun car, but Ford obviously wasn't terribly concerned with interior quality. The "leather" on my seats (if you want to call it that, I think it's closer to vinyl) is all creased and cracked. But at least it lasted as long as it did.

I guess some part of me was just hoping that the Cobalt would at least last a month before visible creasing starts to appear.

Dan

I have had the car about 800 miles and I don't notice anything out of the ordinary with the seat leather. I did notice it in the car show models. But the abuse on those has to be bad, real bad.

I was also worried about it when I got my SS/SC. Still worried about it actually. Dirt is a #1 enemy of leather and if you don't keep it clean it wears a lot faster. Just got to keep it clean and hope it holds together.

Here is a picture of my seat as off monday. I have a larger than normal ass and I just got out of the seat.

Just about every car manufacturer doesn't cover the entire seat in leather. In ALL Ford GM and Dodge, Toyota pickup trucks that come with factory leather, the back seats are 100% vinyl. Not leather at all. One the parts that touch your butt and your back are leather, nothing else. If you read closer it says "Leather trimmed"

I dunno what else they could make leather in the car. Unless it's imitation the entire seat is leather in the front and rear. Even the door inserts seem to be leather.

Seem to be, but they're not. Its a synthetic on most of the non seating surfaces. However I can say for sure that the steering wheel cover is leather, I'm pretty sure the shifter boot is too. There is vinyl now a days that you REALLY have to know what you're looking for to tell it apart from real leather. When it's new its very close. But close is not leather.
I really wish my SRT had leather seats. But it doesn't really bother me. The assgripping cloth prevents me from goin ANYWHERE. I remember taking this one freeway ramp in my 98 Expresso at 110, my skinny ass would peel off to the outer edge of the car. Taking the same ramp at 120, I ain't MOVIN in the seat. Man you gotta love a 158mph fuel cut off
