I called Pontiac today about the ignition switch recall. They confirmed that I was not having the issue and also that my car was part of the recall, based on the VIN. They advised to remove anything unnecessary from the key ring, of course. They told me they were in the process of getting parts from suppliers, and that letters would be sent out in early April.

I received a letter in the mail yesterday for this recall. Still says they don't have the parts yet.

I read something that says if your afraid to drive your car and want out of it, GM will give you an additional $500 toward the a new gm vehicle... But you gotta act before April 30th.

Weird, I have about a pound of keys in my key chain and haven't got this issue.
I will check with GM but like someone said, I don't want those idiots touch or driving my car. Probably disconnect the turbo before taking it lol

Got my ignition recall notice today, doesnt say anything about loaner vehicles in the notice, and it also says that parts wont be available until after april and I have to wait to be contacted by GM again.

Just a heads up you should go to the nearest gm service area to get on the waiting list for parts. Lucky I went as soon as I got the letter I'm 4 th in line

Gm rep also stated that each shop will have only a limited quantity of the parts. Then you will have to wait again

According to the news, they knew as far back as 2001. It is just a total cluster ****. It is funny 5 years ago you would have 90% of people defending GM

If GM offered more to us to get out of a car we feel is unsafe, I would be all over that deal.

$500 is crap.
