Input on the Cobalt Sedan SS, thinking aobut buying one.

My wife made a comment awhile back about a car in a commercial, she liked it. It happened to be a Cobalt. What are the opinions on the Cobalt Sedan SS, with the automatic transmission. What type of realistic fuel economy are you all seeing. Any common problems/complaints? If I decide on getting one, I'd order an 07 model, not sure if that would sway an opinion or not, don't know the differences between the 06 models and 07 models. How are they for long trips, comfortable, cramped? We are a 30 something couple with two young boys.

You will like the car. The 2.4 cobalts arent having alot of pronlems, its the 2.0's that are having reliability issues right now.

Well, I snagged the exact same car as you're looking for with my wife as well and she really likes it. I don't get to drive it much. since I get to take the truck to work. So I guess thats a good thing. We haven't had any problems with it so far, except the outside temperature display seems to read a little wonky sometimes, but I just haven't taken the time to take it in. Nothing major at least. Its a nice solid car, surprising amount of room in the back, and a load of trunk space, although the opening can be a little challenging to get a Rocky Mountain Switch LTD in. At least the seats fold down.

I really like the car, I'd buy another one in a heartbeat, but I don't need 2...

I guess I wasn't aware of Pontiac having a sedan version, I'll check it out as well.

I don't believe that there is a G5 sedan in the USA.

I've found mine to be extremely comfortable on the highway; I've had it to Wisconsin Dells, Cincinnati, and Kansas City. Comfortable seats and nice crisp ride, not floaty or mushy like some cars.

Base Cobalt would save you thousands over the SS model. IMO Unless you need every ounce of power you can get out of it don't forget the base 2.2 sedan is an excellent choice for a second family car. Although I have a coupe, my wife and I rented a 2.2 sedan and drove from Las Vegas to the Meteor crater in AZ (put >900 miles in 14 hours on it -- unlimited mileage is good.). It was fully loaded and had plenty of pep on the interstate and got terrific gas mileage. It was comfortable the whole time. Helped make up my mind when I went car shopping for a third run-around car and ended up with my LS coupe. Both the base Cobalt and the Cobalt SS/NA can use all the same factory accessories to personalize it to your taste.

I agree about the sedan SS, the base model doesn't do it for me. Nothing against the base model, just not my cup of tea. I like the amenities and added safety features (4 wheel ABS disc brakes come to mind) of the more loaded models.
