Installing HID's

should i get my family who own a chevy dealership and are good mechanics but have never installed an HID kit to install it or pay someone to do it who installs them for a living? my question is, is it really that hard to do, i assume not but people have told me that the ballasts are picky and if they equally get the same amount of power then your screwed. has anyone done it without any experience? i just dont want to take a chance of screwed it up

they are easy. and theres probably hundreds of howtos on the net about how to do it.
your mechanic friends should have no problem at all.

It should be plug and play, it took me about an hour to install mine only cause I took off the entire front upper grill to mount the ballast under, that's the hardest part. If you need someone to install them i think that's pretty sad and a waste of money

Yes definitely get projectors, SORRY TO ALL THOSE I HAVE BLINDED LOL. And if you're going to get the projectors, don't get the HID kit till you get them, the blub sizes are different so you'd spend another 100 bucks to converting to another size.

this is why you need projectors

this was posted just today on another forum
where he was very proud of his new HIDs.

that car is going to be a complete hazard going down the road.
HIDs + Halogen reflectors = painful glare

unfortunatly im not, i really dislike the projectors for our cars, i agree with you with the glare but i have black headlights and theres only reflective housing at the very back so at least the glare wont be as bad at usual. i might retrofit some projectors in my lights this summer but who knows, by the way where did you mount your ballasts?
