Ramps work great when you don't have to remove the wheels, jack stands are nice for getting the whole car up in the air or being able to remove wheels. It's also much easier to get around w/o ramps. I would use stands for exahust because you can get 4 and put the whole car up at once. For an oil change, ramps are great!

Ramps always make me nervous when I'm by myself and noone is spotting me. I always feel like I'm going to drive over them or something lol...so when I do oil I just jack one side up leave the jack there and put a jackstand under it. I just need enough room to get to the oil pan.

I bought one from walmart and it just fits nice under my car. It can lift 2-tons, 4000 lbs. Is that sufficient? Or should I get a stronger hydraulic jack?

The car only weighs 3000. And it's not like you are lifting the entire car at once.

Remember kids, don't hold your car up with a jack, always use jack stands
