Just some minor problems

I just have a few things that are wrong with my SS and i wanted to see if they were common or not.

1) i have a gap in my trunk.. the right side gap is a few centimeters where the left side barely has any gap.. noticed this within the first week

2) My e-brake never stays all the way down.. like its not tight enough.. anyone figure out a way to tighten it?

3) my e-brake light will flash for a millisecond everyso often while im driving

4) everyonce in a while.. (usually after a boggy start) the engine idles very funny.. going all the way down to 500 rpms and then back up and down etc.

5) my windows make a god awful squeecking(??) noise when i open and close them.

6) exhaust pshyically shakes too much for me.. like a hard ricer.

7) the crappiest, easiest to scratch paint in the whole ******* world!!!!

thats abou it for now.. just type the number and then your answer respectfully.. thanks for the insight

I have the same problem with the e-brake it feels loose when you have it down and if you lift it the slightest bit the light will turn on.. i also am experiencing the squeaky windows but it is only my driver side window. Just some minor problems though

I have that same mis-fit on my truck deck lid as well. I'm going to tolerate it rather than break the paint seal on the adjusting bolts. The ebrake issue it something you can have easily adjusted at a dealer with no charge. It will stop that light from blinking too.

I've experienced both of those on my LS, though the e-brake light issue had gone away for a while. I just ignore it assuming it's possible the computer is doing a diagnostic on it (though god only knows why it needs to do that in the middle of the highway ).

As far as #4 goes, I've noticed this seems to happen either as you mentioned after a boggy start, or when I've been driving for long distances with the A/C on and when I turn the car back on I've turned the A/C off prior to shutoff.

I'm not really concerned with them though, if #4 ever ends up in a stall I might start worrying but a few of your issues should be an easy fix .

hey Paul, Just got mine back from the dealership for the muffler replacement ( broken baffle ricer sound) and touch up paint. The mufflers are on what they call national backorder but one call to GM customer service ( I told them I got a ticket for noise) and they had one for me in a week. The paint on these cars does seem to suck. I can not believe the stone chips I am picking up in the first two weeks. I only have seen the e-brake light come on once for a split second in the first few days that I had it, nothing since then. The fit on my front fenders to the grill was off, I had the dealer adjust it, but I think they chipped the paint. They called it a stone chip but it was not there last night when I washed it. Maybe I picked up the chip this morning ? Other than these two issues I love the car.

Later.

Mine has come on a few times while driving, but the e-brake goes (and stays) all the way down.

4) everyonce in a while.. (usually after a boggy start) the engine idles very funny.. going all the way down to 500 rpms and then back up and down etc
Mine did that once, it was almost undriveable, and the CEL came on a few times but didn't stay on. Took it to the dealer immediately, but they couldn't pull up the code or figure out what was wrong. Hasn't done it since.

5) my windows make a god awful squeecking(??) noise when i open and close them.
Doesn't do it in my SS, but it does on my Chevy work van. But I think it has to do with spilling a soda all over the driver side door and then opening the window before cleaning it up. Still does it now even after scrubbing everything down.

7) the crappiest, easiest to scratch paint in the whole ******* world!!!!
That seems to be common with everyone. I've already got more chips in the paint on the front end than I did on my GTP with 105k miles.

I actually directed the service dept. at my GM dealer to this website since a few of the issues I've had with the car also seemed to be affecting a number of other people. Since mine's the only loaded 2005 LS they'd sold at the dealer as of a month and a half ago they hadn't experienced some of them yet first-hand...it was nice to have something to fall back on in case they didn't take my word for it .

Cool gas/air exchange in tank

only prob i had was the pressure in the gas tank... i could only pump a 1/4 gallon at a time b4 the pump shut off. the dealership couldnt figure it out and replaced my tank... which did nothing. finally GM contacted the dealership and replaced the gas pipe (funny thing is they shipped the part b4 i even took the car in) now im fixed.

i do get the funny idle sometimes maybe once a week... no biggy thats wut the warrenty is for on a 1st year modal oh and my windows were'nt dark enough

My car has been perfect so far ...unless you count my boost gage being stuck at #20 on the vacuum side when i turn the car off ..but when I turn the car on it works fine. I think I'm one of the few here that has escaped any problems...so far.

I have ebrake problems too, I need to get it adjusted. Mine will go all the way down, that's not the problem. The problem with mine is it does not hold on hills AT ALL. I have to use wheel chocks. We're not even talking a big hill. We're talking the slope up into my driveway. I don't even want to ask what would happen if I had to park it on anything other than a slight grade. What it'll do is I park it, put it in first since it's parked up hill (or reverse if it's parked down hill) to help hold the car, pull the ebrake as hard as I can until it will go no farther, step out of the car and away she rolls. Looks like that's going to be my first warranty repair.

Mine is only a couple weeks old but I had the e-brake light flash for no reason recently. Also my sunroof shade is too tight to the headliner (scrapping noise when opened) and my gas cap teather broke off 2nd fill and cruise set button seems to be a little finicky.

Also, it's not a problem but does anyone else's insert section seem to be looser leather there? Like it's not streched as tight as the rest and can be pulled and folded a bit after it's been sat in? Both seats do this so I just assumed that it how they are made.
