Unhappy Killed my maf the other day.

My car threw a PO101 code on friday. Took it to my friends shop and we were trying to figure out what could cause it. His version of hp tuners won't do alot of for my car so in the blind a little. Bought some maf cleaner and used it on it but I think that killed the thing or maybe maf was already going bad and that did it in. I have a 09 ss/tc with over 10,000 miles on it with a hahn intake. Would the intake have any part to play with the amount of miles for the maf possibly going bad? This ever happen to anyone before?

Right now I have to keep the maf unplugged just so the car will run and idle right, can't get one til monday.

Yeah, I've got connections at 2 diffrent dealers so I get discounts from the people I know that work there. New maf for mine after discount is only runnin me $60, can't beat that. Afrter we cleaned it, we cleared the code and it had trouble idling right, got it running, drove it and still the same issues. Brought it back to his shop and after we cleared he code again it just would not start and idle right for its life. We unplugged the maf and it runs and idles ok.

YES YOUR MAF IS DEAD.

Mine did the same thing. I got snow/salt mix on the maf and ruined it. Get stock intake on for winter or get a filter wrap for it, like the Injen Hydroshield.

Yeah, I have driven mine in the snow so that could be the cause of it. One day my car was warming up and it was idling like it had a big cam in it then calmed down. That was 2 weeks ago, maybe 3 so I guess the maf just slowly got worse then bam, just killed itself, and the cleaner helped finish it. I will be getting the injen hydro shield most likely, website you can get it at?

I've never ordered one, let me take a look around to see who has them. Check site sponsors as well. I think TTR has them, but not 100% on it.

I unplugged my MAF and drove it 600 miles so I could make it home. Then it wouldn't run at all. So, replaced maf, put stock intake on, it's fine.

Yeah, I've been driving around since saturday with no maf. Not boosting it for sure during this time. I am gonna leave the hahn intake on and just replace the maf.

Well, a new maf didn't fix the problem. We cleared the code, put the new maf in fired it up and did the exact same thing, starts but doesn't stay running, won't idle right. Could it be a tps sensor possibly even though it threw a maf code. I've checked all the couplings to the charger pipes and my intake, everything was tight down so no leaks there if that would've caused it, I'm going crazy, any suggestions.

I'm guessing my MAF to be dead as well as I'm getting a P0100 code for the MAF. "Sensor signal time = 0"

I'm not getting a new one until Monday. However, I've been doing a LOT of research on MAF issues on many other forums. It appears that you HAVE to reflash the ECU for the new MAF to work properly. From what it looks like you can't just plug in the new one and go. I don't know why that is, but that's what I've been finding.

EDIT: Some are saying reflash, some are saying just unhook the battery for a while to reset the ECU. Second option sounds more likely.

Ok, my car is fixed. I can pick it up tomorrow morning. (Saturday) I was at work already and gave them a call. It was nice because I got to speak to the actual guy that worked on it and he explained everything to me in detail.

It was the plug from the sensor. There was a broken wire to pin connection. What was happening is at start-up the ECM calls for a 3,000Hz test signal from the MAF. The MAF then responds with the requested 3,000Hz signal and within a very short period of time it's verified and MAF is considered operational.
He also said that there are TSB's from GM about the connector for codes P0101-P0108. I'm not 100% on that... as in it could be P0102 - P0106... but it's the range check codes for the MAF. There is NOT one for the P0100 code however. I'm very happy I took it to them. I trust them more, they explain things well and they are quick. I'll pay for that.. fine by me.
