Its simple. If you own a SS/TC bolted and tuned, get some electric/painters tape. And write the words "LOL V8" on the back. Then watch the hate come in........and just destroy everyone and make them cry about how their prized Gto/350z/g35/mustang/camaro/gt500 got DESTROYED by a 4 banger rental car.

I remember I posted pics of my balt when I got it(facebook) ..and a guy I know made fun of it saying "everyone knows the cobalt is one of the worst cars ever made and they are slow ..etc etc.... " basically talkd me down nasty... To the point I felt like gettn the cobalt was a mistake... But seeing you ppl killing "big" cars gives me hope he drives a civic SI

 

agreed, and yes. i want a plate that says "V8 what" ut ill never get to that status. if i roll up into the tuner crowd its get that slow balt out of here or it that an SS or a fake. then if you try to hang with the old school they say things like "super slow" or oh look its a eco box that thinks its fast.

 

**** scions. Scion TC can only handle 6psi on stock head before that **** lifts. ***** weak. Buddy has one. People assume its a cobalt, just like how people think "It's just a neon(srt4)" People will respect you when you make a pull against a fast car. I got respect at my local meet with all the LNF guys when my LSJ stayed side by side with a E47 LNF on 24psi. No one expected me to keep up like that with a stupid ass M62 on 16.2 psi.

 

You get no respect when you give no respect. You can buy a civic drop 8k into the motor and you are at 450 whp and weighing practically nothing. That's CHEAP. I love my cobalt but hating on civics and scions only makes you the same person making fun of your cobalt

 

people will always hate, look at people now days, everyone either has had or will have a damn honduhhh at some point, they're not creative and want to be just like everyone else vs us who want to be different.

Had a v6 Mustang owner in my class that would always bash my cobalt..but when I told him id race him any day time or place..hed be like No nono...or..Get 500 bucks together and we'll race..I just told him I dont want your money..needlesstosay..we never raced..

Haters will always hate. They see "Cobalt" and automatically think it's slow. They either know nothing at all about cars or their just jealous. Regardless what they think I still love my car.

 

Ok sto my story goes like this. I went to the local gm here in my city. Im turbo swaping my 07 ss right now just so everyone is clear. I tell the parts guy I need certain kind of bolts, he agrees orders them for me. He says to me hey do you like the cobalt. I said love my car its everything ive ever wanted in a car, only thing is I should have bought the turbo model. He falt out tells me gm never made a turbo cobalt only super charged and only made from 04-07. So i had to drop some knowledge on him for a minute. Anyway needless to say Respect is hard to come by even people at gm dont even know the cobalt came turbo, Talk about knowing nothing about a car or having little respect. Dude didnt even know they made kits to upgrade the cobalt. He said I dont see how anyone could race those cars they have shuch tiny axles, and im sure it cant take much in a race. Even gm dont respect our cars. Word of advice just do you forget about the rest. Ive been hated on up an down wisconsin, Untill I raced anything and anyone started beating people and then everyone wanted me to come out and show my car off, at the end of the day if you like it then thats all that matters F everyone else. I hear them same **** from mustangs other hondas all that **** just pointless bullshit.

 

who said i hate civics? i was comparing the levels of respect when it comes to the tuner world, ppl who drop 8k into a civic get respect like they built a 6sec car but if a balt rolls up whether its upgraded modded heavily or a sc turbo swapped its like why would u do that?????? i respect everyone who builds and puts time and effort into their cars its not the cars its the owners who create problems. i just notice a band wagon trend when it comes to balts. like the last time i was in NYC i went to autozone for sumtin and told the guy what i drive and he was like ha really why so he went outside with another customer and i got in my car. Then when i was rolling out he heard how my bov and was like they make those turbo? i laughed and said no its just a speaker under the hood that makes sounds..

 

The problem isn't the Cobalt. The problem is that most "car guys" are sheeple (sheep + people). They just go with what all their friends think is cool and fast and 9 times out of 10, their friend's into some Honda that can't get out of it's own way without spinning so fast, it makes it's own small gravity field, or some Scion/Toyota product that tries to kill them with a sticking throttle or cruise control. As a result, they think EVERYTHING other than said import is **** and unworthy of respect. The Cobalt is a classic case and point. It's capable of mind-blowing performance in the sport compact crowd, but most fanboys just look at it, see the Chevy bowtie and say it's a fluke or Vtec didn't kick in. I once had a Honda fanboi try to tell me the ecotec was based on Honda's Vtec system as was Ford Zetec and Duratec engines. I was trying so hard not to laugh that he got pissed.

I'm not saying Hondas and Toyotas/Scions are bad. I respect any car based on the owner's conduct, and the sad fact is most of them can't think for themselves. Meanwhile the ones who can think for themselves need the rod surgically removed from their ass.

its all relative to whom you race. some guys are really cool about it and will give me a thumbs up while others are douches. ive beaten an ls3 vette and v10 m5 so far and the owners of those cars were surprised as hell when i beat them. but right after they gave me a thumbs up and told me awesome car, asked about my build and etc...then again ive raced some other cars where the guys are douches and talk **** after they lose saying i have nos or some ****. some people are just stupid. i could give two ***** if i win or lose. i just wanna know how it runs against some cars. people need to learn to give credit when credit is due, regardless of what they drive.

hell i own a cobalt but for some reason i have a soft spot for the boosted 1999-2000 civic si's. dont know why but id love to own a fully built one for fun. i love all cars regardless of domestics or imports.

 

I like ek hatches, but I'm out of the honduh game, next car im building is going to be an old z. Then I'll completely rebuild the Wrx. Which leaves no money for the cobalt.

 

I like it Because when it comes down to race and you win there face expression is priceless

I love flying under the radar, not getting respected, not getting noticed, blending in with the bajillion other Cobalts on the road. That's why I bought it. Then if anyone does call me out or wants to see what it can do they are usually surprised.

 

I have seem to have gotten very good luck with my g5. A lot of ricers won't temp me because they are not sure what kind of car I have or motor. G5s are not common around my state. I get a lot of people who driver higher end cars mess around with me. I have had a few lose on the highway then we will come up to a light and they will ask about the car. Most the time when I tell them it's just a 2.4l they give the wtf look lol. I have even had some people lose a race and then get close behind me to see what kind of car it is. There was a kid in a scion tc trying to toy with me today but I was in 5th gear doing 70 with my ac on and I still passed him he gave up lol. What I do and it seems to work good. I don't give the kids in slow cars the time of day. They try to get me to race and I'll just pretend they are not and they give up. I know my car would hand them there ass so why beat on my car.
