Licensse plate

I am just wondering why it is recommended that I cross out my license plate number in pics of my car?

What is the point? I can go down the road and get 10-20 off of people's cars in their drive ways. It's public record, only the private info, i.e. address, SSN, phone# etc are private. they won't give those out at the BMV.

I think its pointless when people block them out, ive seen people saying you should block them out and then they go and post their vanity plates

well, someone could always use your plate number, with all you have posted before. Like what state, color car, mods you have and come find your car and steal it. They may not give those out at the dmv, but their is other ways to find out where you park your car at night. I know in new jersey there is a website that keeps trak of who purchased a home and how much they paid for it. it doesn't give you address # but it tells you the town.

Yes, but if I'm the one risking it, I don't need people swearing or using the Lord's name in vain at me because they think I should have covered my plates. That bothers me.
